I was fairly hyped for this ‘prepatch’ event. And, disclaimer, I’m the type of person who doesn’t read up on or watch all this early content so I know what I’m getting into. I feel like the ‘discovery’ is part of the fun.
ANY way, this has got to be the most boring, lackluster, and AWFUL pre-patch grind yet. The dailies are horrible, the Nathanos fight is just frustrating as hell, and flying around Icecrown from point to point trying to get to a mob when it spawns before it dies in 20 seconds all for the CHANCE to get a drop? It’s just not worth it.
Thankfully I realized, while slogging through this on my third toon ( out of 13 ), there’s nothing in this prepatch that is important or even necessary. I mean I got the ghoul pet, and I WANTED to stick around for the transmog pieces I didn’t already have, but it’s just not worth it.
I really, really hope this awful offering isn’t a pre-cursor to what we can expect from Shadowlands. The execution, the filler, the rewards? None of it feels worth it to me…and this is only day 1 out of 14.
To be fair, I usually only stick around long enough to check out the new lands and go through the storylines on my favorite class / specs. Given the abysmal state of classes post-squish, I don’t think that’s going to be a long list this time around.
I’ve never done a raid, I don’t do Mythics, and I don’t do PvP. I’m a care-bear in every aspect…I just happen to love the lore.
From the brief bit I’ve gathered, Torghast is probably going to be the only staying power for me.
EDIT: I have no idea why it switched me from Rozalia to Vaolurr…
Totally agree with you. I logged in expecting chaos. Expecting orgrimmar/stormwind under siege from an undead army. I mean…anduin, baine, thrall, tyrande, all just got attacked. Anduin picked up out of stormwind. What I got was a quick questline to unlock…DAILIES, and zero chaos.
This is just…sad. They could have just left some NPC you talk to if you want to partake and OPT IN to the pre-patch chaos, and then just let things go absolutely nuts to be a memorable time. So everyone who wants business as usual of standing around in capital cities doing nothing can do that.
It’s quite underwhelming that’s for sure. Maybe the pre-legion/pre-bfa event set the bar too high. This is just… bad honestly.
There is one good thing tho. I like the idea with the rare spawning, announcing itself and not being killable for a minute. This event could have been so much worse if it spawned and basically instantly died.
what they did Korrack’s revenge should be a crime lol.
I mean even letting xp slide…who makes an event that has noobs come in to be one shotted. Even eve isn’t this cold to its noobs. That scaling call…or lack there of…for low levels was just bad.
4 weeks ago the forums were crushing Blizz on how stupid the PvP scaling was especially for levels when they had low levels wiping the floor with high levels.
I came to the same realization after about an hour of sitting around in Icecrown. I began to wonder…is this really worth it? The conclusion I came to was no, it is not. So I logged and have been forum lurking ever since, which is worlds better than sitting in Icecrown for 6+ hours on one character, and then attempting it again on another.
Man, don’t say ‘farmlands’. That makes me think of MoP grinds, which were actually entertaining. If ONLY they could reach back to the experience that was Sunsong Ranch dailies and rep-grinds. I do those on alts for fun.
