I cannot reset my UI. A full reinstall didn't even help

So last night I was getting a lot of errors. I decided I would just reset and start fresh. Removed all addons, addon managers and deleted wtf, cache and interface. Logged in and even though I no longer had bartender installed I still had my ui set up as I had with the addon.
I tried deleting, renaming, searching for hidden folders. Nothing helped. I even deleted the entire game last night and reinstalled and still to this moment my UI will not reset back to default. Please help.

Is it possible that you actually have a second installation of WoW in a different place that is actually getting loaded?

You can check to see the location of the game that the launcher is loading by clicking on the cog wheel next to the Play button in the launcher. In there, cluck Game Settings and then look to see the location of where WoW is being loaded from. Make sure that’s the location where you did the UI reset (deleting those folders).

Nope, that’s the same location where I deleted the cache, wtf and interface folders. I even lack the ‘Addons’ button now but yet somehow they still are having an effect on my game.

After you deleted those folders and logged into WoW again, did the folders get recreated? If they didn’t you have the game installed in a different folder.

Just another thought, are you logging into the right version of the game? Meaning, in the drop-down above the play button, you’re logging into your active game and not a PTR etc.?

Just trying to rule stuff out as having wiped the interface folder should have cleared out any and all addons too!

Yup, yup. correct version. All the correct toons. This makes zero sense to me. I have no idea what’s going on. I just deleted the entire game again, the battle net app, reset my pc and reinstalling. This is really bugging me.

Before you reinstall, make sure the folder that WoW was in is actually gone. Like 100% gone. It is definitely weird that any part of the addon would have still been present after a Full UI Reset.

Now that your thread is in Tech Support, hopefully someone here with a little more technical knowledge can help if a new fresh install doesn’t work.

Yeah I did. I had to use task manager to close battle net and then totally deleted everything. Reset PC and then verified everything was gone and now reinstalling. Fingers crossed.

Edit: Still not fixed. How is this possible!?

Create a new folder.
If SSD is c:
Use the right click and create as Adminstrator.

C:\wow

Point the installer to install in that Directory.

So you will have.

C:\wow\World of Warcraft\

Edit…
Do you have a addon manager like Curse or Overwolf? On your desktop?

Have you checked this?

I just reset my PC to factory. Wiped hard drives, reinstalled windows. I went full nuclear. Why do I still have my bartender ui? I guess I have to download bartender to have a default ui which is weird af. I really don’t know what’s going on here.

I Do know that windows needed to do a update/shut down update…
Errr

Dang that’s fast… 4 min tops love this SSD…

You need to run the command:

/console cvar_default
or
/console cvar_reset
Can’t remember which it is, it’s been a long while since I’ve had to do it. Some variables get stored on the server end and this is how you clear them.

I tried that and it flashes in red letters saying “You do not have permission to perform that function”

Yeah, it will do that, but it still works. Try both of them, then type /reload to save the variables, close out of the game and reboot it. See if that works.
