I cannot, in good conscience

That is really funny.

possible. I dont know how much the failed Titan game really cost them. Its looking like they had a lot of eggs in that basket. It feels like Blizzard has lost the ability to create a new game . I would imagine the come to Jesus talks were something like, If yall dont start producing new games, and quickly, we will replace you with people who can. These are not the only layoffs. Its just the first wave

I can put even more of my money into the wonderfully creative board game market. I love those games. Barnes and Noble has a big collection of them.

Use a credit union. Banks treat their customers horribly! They charge fees for everything.

… I was going to correct you but then you explained how you don’t understand science… so… I’m not going to worry about it.

Yes that will show them, everyone quits playing subs drop and they fire more people…Yah real smart.

There’s always layoffs- if you look into every currently successful massive company, you’ll find they’ve had large layoff as well as large hiring periods, multiple times.

It’s been three years since Overwatch, so yes, they’re due a new game soon- but that’s not even half the time they took off between WoW’s launch and SC2. Considering how well OW did, and it being decades between it and the last time Blizz actually did an innovative new franchise- I’m not sure how this is any different from the old Blizz.

Blizz isn’t the great innovator- most of their best WoW ideas they took from other mmos. OW is just another team shooter. SC2 is just SC1 or WC3 with nicer graphics.

Blizz is the great refiner- they take popular ideas and make them easier to play, prettier, and more cohesive.

Barnes and Noble is 1 year out from their own massive layoffs, targeting many people with 10…15…20 years there. All the while hiring more execs at the same time.

Rumor has it Barnes and Noble will do another round of lay offs this Feb.

We went back to start another checking and yeah…they told me fees were involved. Our account is so old we dont have any fees on it.
Glad I didnt close it out or anything before.

Bernie Madoff is currently serving a more than lifetime sentence for that type of fraud. The current financial market does drive businesses to make what we view as greedy moves sometimes, but it’s not a genuine comparison to what you’re taking about. It seems as if you’re suggesting fraud is the norm.

The fiscal year of 2020 has at least one major release, which is Warcraft 3: Reforged. That’s actually coming out this year, after September 30th.

no…it seems more like you wanted to find someone to argue with so found ANY post you could pick apart to do so when it was VERY obvious to anyone with some processing power that it was an exaggeration.
Whoddathunkit that people use that sort of thing when making points, i know…

Nah, once the greedy executives and stockholder see enough wallets walking away they’ll most likely panic. They value money more then anything. Enough players leaving would will cause them to change their exploitative business practices. Players staying only enables them to continue to behave poorly.

You really have no idea how a business works

and you do?

Yes I do as a matter of fact

That in itself says something though doesn’t it? Something has to change.

Can you explain why reducing extraneous costs in anticipation of bad year is a bad thing?

Bear in mind I did say that Blizzard probably took some short cuts to make their record year. Layoffs aren’t the problem, it’s the practices that lead to their record-breaking year that might’ve been the problem. At least these difficult decisions might force themselves to reassess their strategies.

How so? There is no way to change it. It’s the nature of the world. Companies don’t continually grow, there is always a cap, there is usually, if not always, a decline or and expected decline. So there will always be lay offs, unless you can find a way to provide unlimited demand.

For one, we don’t really know they’re anticipating a bad year. No major titles doesn’t sound great but we don’t fully know what they can monetize, or what doesn’t qualify as a major title.

Two, something (possibly a rumor) I’ve learned is they had record revenue, not profit. So maybe there’s a lot we don’t know.

Three, we have no idea how they discussed handling this. Did anyone offer to take a pay cut? We don’t know.

So all of that not knowing leads me to conclude we don’t actually know if the costs were extraneous.

I do know they lost a lot of good will. That’s about all I know for sure.
