I broke down and subbed for the first time in over a decade

I had a blast during the test, died a bunch lol but honestly had a great time. Community was awesome, people were talking and helpful, cant remember the last time retail felt like that. Thanks to the players and to Blizzard as well. Here’s hoping the next two weeks fly by. :grinning:

LOL, don’t feel bad OP, I swore off WoW many years ago too, made similar commitments to not cave…I lasted a week then resubbed.

For what it’s worth, retail is an abomination, don’t do it, but yeah I hear ya on classic

I don’t know why I forgot to post this earlier, but there’s a special treat undead warlocks can share with the rest of the Horde (at least at one point there was, not sure if Classic will have it).

Hang around the courtyard above the Undercity. Toss “Detect Invisibility” on your allies, or anyone else passing through (especially lowbies). Enjoy their reactions as they’re suddenly surrounded by the restless spirits of the dead of Lorderon!

Warning: though the Ghosts are neutral, they will respond if attacked. And watching lowbies get torn apart by high level mobs they didn’t even know existed is hilarious! Oh, and tragic, of course… but mostly hilarious.

chuckles I was buffed by a fast moving priest - had to really chase her to get close enough to INT buff her …

And there was a great idea in another thread that probably everyone but ME was already doing - a macro set to buff people so you could do it while running or whatever.

Holy crap, what a great idea! I’ll do it once I go LIVE in … dare I say it … just two weeks.

Consider me educated. Thank you.

So basically rogues will always lose unless they have a bunch of those scrolls laying around.

I buff people as a mage.

It’s a nice feeling to know what class you pick is important because you invest in that character. It’s also maddening to make a final decision.

Nah, I usually /dance and say something like “I’m rogue-buffing you!”

Similar boat as OP. I haven’t played regularly since MoP, swore I was done with this game. My friend convinces me to play Classic with him and I got the beta invite. The layering was annoying but once I sent out the invite, we were good. He’s a priest, I went warrior.

Oh man, what a trip! We both kind of remembered the quest but not exactly. Coldridge Valley was having Barrens chat. Reports came in that world PVP was going on in Westfall. We tried to join a Hogger raid but it didn’t fall through. Get to Kharanos and I tell my buddy that I can’t wait for my first green. People were talking and buffing each other. We invited a hunter to the group and I look at the time. I had been playing for a few hours and didn’t notice it!

Great, great experience last night. The community among players is what makes this game imo.

I quit during TBC but I screwed around a bit at the very end of cata and during MOP.

During my time at MOP I came to the decision that I was just done with WoW for good. The game was so different. I was in a mega guild just for the perks. No relationships were made, no comradery or help came from guildies. But I didn’t need much help as I leveled from 80-90 from the steps of Stormwind by queuing for dungeons and PvP.

And when I got to level cap, it was LFR. And then the game was done, unless I wanted to redo the exact same dungeon on a higher difficulty, for the same recolored gear.

I thought I was never going to play WoW again. I happily missed WoD, Legion, and BFA. But here I am, resubbed, and super hyped for classic. I’m screwing around on retail only to pass time before classic starts.

I can hardly wait to experience the old zones as they once were. Traveling to dungeons. Meeting people and making friends, and nemeses out in the dangerous PvP areas. Getting ganked and then getting revenge. Then starting a larger scale world PvP encounter as each faction starts bringing in reinforcements to establish dominance in a questing zone. Then the 40 man raids - taking down Gods and Dragons to receive that shiny purple loot. The feeling of accomplishment and success when everyone worked hard to bring the baddies down.

It’s going to be epic just like it used to be. I even joined a private server a while ago to test the waters to see if I would really like the game as it used to be. I leveled a warrior from 1-50 and then I had to stop because I was having too much fun and I didn’t want to invest too much time in something I wasn’t going to stick with long term. Can’t freaking wait.

Yea Classic is the future of WoW. It will draw millions from far and wide that have left the game over the years. Classic is the most superior MMORPG to come out in recent history. Funny how an old game becomes the future. Maybe Devs will start designing MMORPGs correctly now instead of being so focused on Azerite, Daily’s and Pathfinder.

I did the same thing then subbed to see more and was lvl 50 after the weekend…it’s far to easy to level in retail, but I understand why(to get to 120 as soon as possible), but it makes Azeroth basically a starting area with no immersion.

wonderful post I felt the same

Yeah I resubbed too.

Tried Retail, did 1 hour of MoP dailies cause of profession time gating, then I tried to play some BFA, made it about 20 minutes before uninstalling.

I might try to finish pathfinder 2 in the winter. But really only if Classic is totally messed up from layering.
