Like the title says, a very QOL change for the forums would simply be the addition of account wide ignoring for users you have ignored. Let’s face it, some of the more volatile and baity trolls probably often switch characters and begin trolling again once they realize a large number of people are putting them on ignore. So please, just give us account wide ignores.
It is account wide?
I only ever post on this character really so if you ignore this character that would do it.
How often do you guys post on other characters?
I am the Ralph legion…but don’t tell anyone
it ignores character only, not the account.
Unless it has been changed in the past year, I put someone on ignore in the settings and I no longer got notifications when they began harassing on their alts.
The posts don’t go away but at least you wont log in with 10 notifications, 6/10 being stalker insults.
Iirc it treats each individual character as a “forum account” theres a jsong you can look at and they’re all tied to character names, not bnet accounts.
the ignore feature is new.
we couldn’t ignore anyone a year ago.
the old forum software ignored all of a players characters.
this one doesn’t.
I’m for it personally because ignoring someone just should affect all characters it just makes sense,
I do wonder though if they do it the way they do in order to prevent people outing people. There is a vicious group of people that like to harass people. If you decide to change characters to avoid harassment, they could use the ignore system to find out who their new character is. Although I guess nobody would put in that much effort. But it does sound like something a few of these psychos I ran across on this forum would do… Had someone earlier (prior to me turning off my activity) Run threw my posts and flag aboslutely everything they found that might have a tiniest bit of a chance to be against CoC. Some of them dating as old as a year.
I’m referring to the mute function in this forums settings that were there since this new style forum started. It would simply stop you from getting notifications from whoever you entered in the box. And it was not documented anywhere, so I noted that it also stopped me from getting notifications from their alts.
there wasn’t one.
Discourse didn’t introduce any sort of mute function until march last year.
we’ve been using these forums since 2018.
i’m pretty sure this is the reason
How do I ignore someone?
Yes there was. And you can still use it to this day. Under your settings, go to Preferences, Users and at the bottom is Muted.
Agreed, having to wait to get tl2 before i copy my ignore list from my spriest is silly
we can block people account wide within the game of world of warcraft I have a couple of people blocked no matter what toon they message me on in the game they cant contact me because I Account blocked them for contacting me in game and its easy to do it
not sure why you want to argue, you’re quite simply wrong.
this information can be found directly from the source.
if you can’t be bothered checking the info directly from Discourse, there’s a blue post here clarifying that no such feature existed back then, and it was being looked into.
this was about the forum… it’s in the title
I’m talking about apples, you’re talking about Chevrolet.
you were mistaken.
it’s ok.
nothing bad happens if you admit you were wrong.
You were talking about an ignore feature. I’m talking about muting.
If you wanna flap your arms and walk away calling yourself the victor, you do you, pal.
I agree it should be account-wide. Why they choose to have immersion-breaking things like account-wide mounts in their game but not account-wide ignores in the game and on their RL forums is beyond me.
I mainly post on this one but if a thread specifically pertains to, say Dwarfs for example, and it would make more sense to reply as one of my Dwarfs (and I am not too lazy), I will switch. A couple of times I have switched mid-stream in a conversation to display something but I have always noted it in the post.
I probably have around twenty posts out of almost two thousand that are not on this.
Oh, and when I switch to Horde, I plan to switch to a Horde character.
