In a game where raid bosses no longer even die, you can’t win by clearing raids.
In a game that has devolved into what is essentially fanfiction trying very hard to overwrite its entire 27 year long history of lore, the only thing a player can do is rebel.
Kel’thuzad has not been under the recently invented Jailer’s thumb since Warcraft 3
Arthas was not being mind controlled by the Jailer
The Dreadlords were not working for the Jailer this entire time
The Burning Legion has not been the Jailer’s collective patsy since Warcraft 1
Chromie is a girl
And sociopath Sylvanas has not been working with the Jailer since Cataclysm only to randomly turn into a bleeding heart and realize the error of her ways at the last possible second
Not to mention all of the other ridiculous retcons Shadowlands has graced us with. There are way too many to list.
Don’t believe Blizzard’s lies. Don’t let them make you forget what this game used to be back when it was actually good. The hacks who inherited and currently run WoW don’t get to overwrite Warcraft’s old lore and they don’t get to overwrite our memories.
Resist their brainwashing and join the Loresworn. Join the 0%.
In all seriousness, the Path of Ascension has been about the only thing in Shadowlands that I have somewhat liked. Even if it was a terribly time gated, grindy, buggy, and poorly tuned disaster, it was still more enjoyable than the rest of this trainwreck of an expansion. In large part because it had nothing to do with Shadowland’s main “story.”
Guess I will let my sub (which I only renewed for TBC) run out now since there is nothing left to accomplish in the game that’s worthwhile atm. I have beaten the game… for now.
My last break was 6 months and I only returned to retail for a week and a half. Quit playing SL just over a month after launch and just recently came back since I subbed for TBC and had some time left.
The Jailer has been the real big bad behind the events of practically every game and expansion in the series. We just didn’t know until 2020. Talk about a slow burn.
Or at least… that’s what Blizz would have us believe.
That’s probably why she means thin. Thin on information. It doesn’t ‘feel’ like Sylvanas’s actions in legion we’re leading to him and the crumbtrail of build-up isn’t as epic as say old gods.
What I am expecting is that Sargeras knew full well that the Jailer was attempting to manipulate him. And he was actually playing 4D chess and the Jailer played directly into his hands.
It will be just like that episode of Rick and Morty.
I mean, on one hand it sucks that you don’t enjoy the game or the Shadowlands story and that you’re quitting.
On the other hand, I will never understand the whole “I’m quitting and here’s why!” posting phenomenon, and Blizzard’s evident support of it. What a way to breed negativity: “go tell the forums why you think the game sucks and why you’re quitting”.
I also don’t get this:
It’s Blizzard’s game, man. It’s their intellectual property. If they say something like “it was the Jailer all along, he even convinced Sargeras to possess Medivh”… then, well, it was, in fact, the Jailer all along and he did, in fact, convince Sargeras to possess Medivh.
Anyway, nothing against you, OP. I wish you the best and agree that if you dislike the game so much you shouldn’t be playing it.
Maybe I just don’t get it or it could be my aversion to "big bad " characters making a late entrance and owning characters with more credibility. Late Dark Tower comes to mind he lost me with mordred.
I actually recall a comment like that in Bellular’s video on Shadowlands retcons.
“6 years on from the video you’ll know that: the Jailor is actually just controlled by Photus, the king of the Phaseplane. The Phaseplane being the world that you temporarily step into when teleporting or using the dark portal. But in the expansion following the one that introduces the Phaseplane (the expansion would be called Phaselords of course) you’ll find out that Photus is just a pawn of Rolla. Rolla is the owner of the universe which the player resides in and is also the owner of countless other universes. Rolla also keeps all the universes inside marbles and uses them regularly in tournaments.”
