In a very weird way…
I was killing stags in Azshara and noticed the names of the trash items. Blood-engorged tick, torn cartilage. Like yeah, wild cervines would have ticks probably, and of course their cartilage would be torn up after being killed and stuff. It is so cool that there’s this added “realism” to the world. It helps will immersion. Good job, Blizzard.

I know they have secret powers!
My favorite items are the white items without descriptions but weirdly high vendor prices. I like to not google them and keep them in my bag, sometimes I look at them and wonder what cool secrets they hide.
I have a rogue that still has vial of tears and tear stained handkerchief. He got them back in AV in vanilla.
The awful part is when innkeepers pay you good coin for this stuff.
So… what do they do with it?
Think about that next time you buy food at the inn.
My favorite grey item is probably the Waterlogged Leather Jerkin, the flavor text reads “Smells like a wet cat. And a wet bear. And a wet moonkin.”
Second favorite would to be the Mining Sword, it’s flavor text reads “The blade is chipped beyond repair. Swords are not good for mining.”
Well, if it wasn’t for trash items, my enchanters would probably be broke most of the time!
I enjoy a lot of the funny flavor text that some trash items have. There are some pretty good ones lol
