I am used to it

I’m used to the game being unplayable at times, and the whole DDoS schtick is not unusual to say the least.

But I’ve never seen Blizzard attacked or even Bnet this often, this much. I mean, y’all might want to look back and see what you did to offend the angry no-lifers that don’t know what a woman is.

This is just gettin out of hand, I wanna play.

It’s like once a day, I can’t believe a triple A game can let their servers be so vulnerable, it’s crazy.

I kinda need the game rn, not having a great time mentally. No other game in my 200+ game library really works to help me cope like WoW does. It sucks, but it is what it is.

That sucks, I understand the coping mechanism with the game man, it sucks when it’s the last hope and even that is down

i think theres no way for any games to prevent its servers from beieng DDoS’ed. its like expecting pigs to fly

I understand that completely. I have anxiety issues (panic attacks) and PvP was the only outlet that calmed me down, but that was way back in the day. They changed PvP since Legion, and I was like “I gottta find somethin else in the game” and then came Torghast. Then what was over, Dragonflight stunk so bad that I turned to Classic WoW, and guild mates/questing over there calmed me down a bit.

But when it’s unplayable, I usually come to the forums and read or troll on FB to get my mind off stuff.

If a group decides to target you, best they can do is respond to the incoming traffic and mitigate it. It’s not something you can just look at incoming packets and immediately know “oh, that’s a DDoS” and fix before it hit. You get hit, realize the additional load is an attack, and work to offload that traffic.

Yeah, this stuff sucks a ton, and it’s getting out of hand, but this isn’t Blizzard’s fault that they’re being attacked. You don’t blame a victim for being attacked. People tend to forget that Sony has gone down for PSN for 19+ hours multiple times. The last 3 or 4 attacks we’ve seen have impacted for an hour, at most, and usually no more than 15 minutes.

Realistically, they are literally doing what they can. It’s infuriating, but blame the actual cause. Some jerk overloading the servers.

It’s not impossible at all, the more you get DDoSed the more data you have to create defense technics, but these internet engineers aren’t doing anything

Every time there’s an attack like this on anything having to do with the internet, I always imagine Boogie from Twitch throwin a fit. Then again, that’s how every attacker looks in my mind.

The issue is is the last 3 or 4 attacks were all in the passed 4-5 days, which is absurd

Sony might’ve been down a while ago for almost a full day, but this happens so rarely that it’s forgettable, this isn’t.

Again because Sony gathered so much info from being constantly DDoSed that they managed to completely block whoever was behind this long attack, blizz just lets them through

I’ll never understand this DDos’ing behavior. The idea that someone could get even a shred of pleasure knowing that other people are temporarily unable to play a video game is beyond mystifying to me. What is driving this…misanthropy or something?

Okay, and they can control that how? And again, their combined outage time in 5 days doesn’t even scrape a single outage Sony has seen. The fact they are responding so quickly is actually pretty impressive, and the fact the outages seem to be taking less time to fix by the day tells me that they’ve got someone actively mitigating the traffic.

Data literally does not help you figure out how to manage a DDoS and the fact you think that tells me that you’re a layman with zero networking experience.

They can do a metric load of things to bypass any data you have. Attacking ISP’s up stream to block the traffic, using botnets and IP spoofs to avoid detection, they can cycle through heavy attack volumes and protocol specific attacks to avoid the mitigation. The amount of avenues one has to initiate and maintain an attack is basically endless, and you have to reactively respond to the attack.

It’s like the flu, it’s constantly changing and they have to make vaccines literally yearly for it. Even with the vaccine, you can still get hit with another strain. All it takes is some dude with knowhow just bypassing protections after prodding the network for a vulnerable point, and bam. It’s down for a few minutes while they shore up protections.

Stop acting like the solution is “just get better”. That’s not how the real world works.

…yes, getting more attacks allows for more data and therefor allows to get better at protecting them, that’s literally how it works.

Whatever they use as a baseline software to protect off DDOS attacks learns the pattern the same way a raider learns a fight, and will upgrade in function of what it learns and protect automatically further attacks, if they even use one

DDOS is like a raidboss, you learn it over time and get better at doing it the more you do it lol, both true for the Softwares as the engineers themselves

That’s quite literally not how it works but enjoy being in your land of make believe where you think your opinion on the world works is what creates reality. Can’t wait to see a write up from you in a scientific paper about your brand new idea of mitigating high traffic DDoS attacks by just remembering to not let it happen again.

They should unironically ban the streamers inciting the attacks.

Blizzard is out here claiming their right to ban or suspend for any reason when it comes to someone saying a naughty word, but when a group of parasites and their haters are disrupting the service for tens of thousands of players they’re wiping their butts and giving them a clean nappy? Absurd.

Many companies also offer partial refunds / credit to your account for when service is out.

Streaming was a mistake

Blizzard dommed itself when they decided to revive the characters on the Hardcore due to the attacks. Now Blizzard is a hostage to this situation. But well, that’s the world we’re living. Too many evil people with too much money and time.

But the simps told me the ddos attacks will stop because blizzard revived their favorite streamer hc toons.

You mean that wasn’t true??? Say it ain’t so :sob:
