I am torn between Prot Paladin and BDK

I do not know which one to play now or maybe, maybe main. As I wanted to master a race first and decided a class with tank is the best.

One is a Nelf BDK, its the class I have played to the highest difficulty (of the content I have made as a loner casual), which was soloing 5 masks back in BFA.

Other is a male Human Paladin. I did some keystones with LFD (male) Prot Paladin back then, but nothing big, nothing above a 5. And I think it was the healer who gave me a moral boost because she believed in me while I was like “Man, we’re going to wipe so hard here, I barely know the dungeons and class.” :eyes:

Not to ask which one would I play, but… if you were between these two, which one would -you- play? I currently have Bear Druid (Nelf, as is THE Druid race) already tested, but want to test them all or most of the tanks before making a choice, although these two have priority.

Choose him. Better kisser.

Ok, 10 points in favor of the male Human Paladin!

MHP: 10
Nelf BDK: 0

Not that it matters, but I always thought it was weird to play a tank w/o a shield equipped.

I have played both in all seasons of TWW

Not only are they different, hero talents then add an additional feeling on top of it.

My decision this Season is Blood DK, specifically Deathbringer.

But a quick overview from my own 2cents on each spec +hero:

Lightbringer Protection Paladin:
You are an Augmentation Evoker of Tanks. You can throw out Swords to Allies or yourself for damage or shields for damage prevention. Really fun if you like supporting others and Protection Paladin also likes to be a utility king.

Templar Protection Paladin:
Heard you like throwing down GIGANTIC hammers of light. You can then throw down another two gigantic hammers of light after your eye of tyr. Big flashy dam.

Deathbringer:
Slice and dice is the name of the game. You mark a target with your reapers mark where it ticks down, travels to other targets and explodes for big dam. You then can slice twice using your marrowrend (which already gives you bone shield stacks for survivability). Very very cool and flashy and its damaging ability actively helps your mitigation.

Sanlayn Blood DK:
Dancing rune weapon gives you access to one of the most enjoyable buttons to press ingame. Vampiric strike is your heart strike but actually deals fat damage while the beast you summon from pressing DRW explodes for more damage. Extremely satisfying gameplay and it’s haste scaling makes it all so fast.

Woa, great summary. Both sound pretty interesting honestly. Unfortunately I play alone currently otherwise giving shields and buffs to allies would be great.

As for DK, it was pretty satisfying seeing your health bar drop low, then boom, back to 100% with one button. Paladin has something similar with its heal, although I liked it more when it was Light of the Protector and not a builder spender build. Might have to end up leveling both and trying.

On the contrary side here, have always loved the idea of tanking without a shield, like augmenting your armor with magic. But I get what you mean.

Are you preferential to a simpler or more complex gameplay style?

I had that choice to make too.

I went with Prot Paladin.

I think they are both really fun to play, but I decided Paladin for the extra utility that can help my team.

A blood DK is more selfish and would be great solo tanker and not be team reliant. Immortal god mode who needs no one.

It was close, but went paladin.

I prefer pally for aesthetics BUT nelf shadow meld is just so much more useful than virtually any other racial. That, plus with dk you can use the same weapon for tank and dps, which is really convenient.

I’d say go dk.

I like bdk because I feel more in control of my life.
But I don’t do really high keys and I can definitely see how they would scale more poorly at that top range of content.

Paladin is better overall, HP is more stable, blocking is better than self healing, and Paladin has much better group utility with auras, LoH, BoF, BoP, BoS and heals.

BDK is still fun for solo play though.

I prefer Nelf Blood DK though I still play my Tauren Paladin sometimes

What in gods name!?! :confounded:

Yours is one of the most compelling reasons to be a BDK. They don’t go high, but at the level (most) forumers go to (myself included) probably one of the most self-sufficient classes.

And they just feel more fun to me, I like gripping casters, I always say “yoink!” Or “get over here!”
Feels good

I personally prefer the playstyle of BDK, but Blood is pretty cheeks right now. It won’t always be though, so pick what you have the most fun with and hope for the best.
