Which spec is the most fun right now to play? Not entirely fussed about damage output right now.

I recommend leveling as Outlaw but I haven’t played it since I leveled my rogue last xpac. It was such a fun leveling experience. Good solo, good in groups.
As for what is fun once you hit max level (it’s so fast now), you just got to try them all out. Everyone has a different opinion and the specs feel so different to each other, I don’t see rogues switching between them much, everyone has their favorite. Mine is Assassination, I play it in raids, dungeons, delves, open world stuff, solo, groups, pvp.

Outlaw is fun but so is Assassination imo.

Assassination is incredibly fun. Massive bleeds and this talent sudden demise that makes the bleeds just kill outright when they get low.
It feels more straight forward than outlaw and sub too, so a great spec to start with.

It really depends on what exactly you find fun.
Reacting to procs, a solidified rotation, damage profile, etc.
I’m personally a fan of Sub for leveling (Shadow Ninja theming), but really all 3 do fairly well if you’re questing or doing world content.

Fair Warning: Leveling will make you want to chew on broken glass. Lack of energy will make it frustrating and slow. If you manage to get to level 50 or so, all specs will start to feel better but not great.
At max level, each spec plays differently and there really is no cross-over between them. You will have to try each of them and find the one that appeals to you. Personally, I enjoy Assassination for raiding and Subtlety for world content. I don’t do M+ and I no longer do PvP.

Assassination or Outlaw.
I still haven’t quite grasped Subtlety. Maybe I should try it out.
I’ve played/leveled as assassination for most of my rogue life. There was a few months in Shadowlands where I went Outlaw for reasons I don’t really remember…it was fun, but I didn’t level with it. Most straight forward, imo, is assassination.
But all 3 have their respective pros and cons.

I loved leveling my rogue when I did, I leveled as assassination. But outlaw at max level is now my favorite.

Sub was really fun to level with how bursty it is (if you keep your gear updated), but it really started feeling impactful past level 40 or so, when you can access Subterfuge talent.
Sadly, after leveling it to 80, equipping it with almost every gladiator piece (thanks to the chests/conq badges I have from Resto SS), I found out that Rogue - at least Sin or Sub - is just not for me in PVP.
It’s exceptionally strong, but the level of attention and awareness that one needs to play them effectively is so up there. I was able to do it, but honestly felt too stressful for me, especially in Arena.
I like seeing more and more people trying out Outlaw. Makes me happy.
