Arcane orb and spellslinger in general are very annoying to play around whenever you have to stand far away. Arcane orb should just give a fixed amount of arcane charges on cast instead of on hit. As far as I know, mage is the only class dealing with this issue (on multiple specs even). Imagine if warlocks had to wait for their shadowbolt to travel all the way to be boss before they got their resource.
To quote the helicopter gunner from Full Metal Jacket when asked how he could shoot women and children: “You just don’t lead as much”.
Aim where they’re going to be, not where they are.
I agree with this. Also if it could mabe slow down when it encounters the target so its not shooting off super far and pulling more stuff.
Arcane Orb just needs to be completely redesigned at this point. It hasn’t been touched (not even a VFX update) since it was first introduced to the game way back in WoD well over a decade ago. It has always had the problems with the travel time, the need to aim it very carefully, and the accidental pulls. With how integral to the Arcane rotation it has become now and given how many talents focus on it there is absolutely no excuse not to address all of the issues and in fact it’s overdue.
Personally, I am in favor of turning it into a version of the arcane orb Queen Azshara uses during her boss encounter where it falls from above (rather than launching outward from your character and traveling across the ground) and cracks like a glass sphere when it hits the ground doing splash damage in a radius. It instantly solves all the problems and will look x10 more visually impressive.
This is a great suggestion
