As I posted once before, I will continue to do so. Blizzard -NEEDS- to stop looking at reincarnate as a defensive option for shamans. It is a bad excuse for a defensive when it can only be used when the shaman dies, and even then its not as strong as other “battle rez” options regardless of it not counting against the battle rez amount.
A. Its a 30 minute cooldown that only comes off CD faster when we’re at full hp. So more often than not during a raid night (my guild raids 3ish hours a night, yours may be different) it only gets used 6 times. Maybe 7 if we’re lucky.
B. You come back with such little HP you have to announce that you’re picking yourself back up and hope a healer is able to triage you or you’re going to just die all over again. Other forms of battle rez are stronger in terms of how much HP you are returned with;
so why is Reincarnate still below the 60% baseline if its supposed to be a defensive tool?
I propose that it should be looked at as a form of self rez. Remove the 30 minute timer and make it 10 minutes like the rest of the battle rezs that are currently out there while also bumping the hp up to the baseline 60% and make it so the shaman (Unless a healer maybe?) can only pick themselves up.
In turn I would suggest returning Shamanistic Rage to shamans so that we have another defensive. More often than not Astral Shift has to be held for a soak thats gonna hit for HUGE damage otherwise and Earth Elemental can be killed and only increases maximum hp, not a damage reduction.
I really want reincarnation to remain in the game and be powerful. It is an iconic ability from the Tauren chieftain of wc3 and the state it has been reduced to in wow is pathetic.
Since shaman have only one active defensive, making reincarnation a legitimate cheat death type mechanic as another core defensive for the class shouldn’t be an issue.
You wouldn’t think it would be an issue. Originally shaman was the Horde equivalent to the Alliance’s paladins and reincarnation was the shaman equivalent to bubble. It was pretty fair as both would let you survive something you shouldn’t.
Fast forward to today and bubble has a 3.5 minute cooldown while reincarnation has a 30 minute cooldown. Sure, there is a talent to reduce the cooldown to 7.5 minutes if you’re standing around in a town, but in actual content the cooldown is pretty close to 30 minutes.
(I know you know all of this- I’m just half venting and half being thorough in case someone that doesn’t know how it works reads this.)
They really need to make an untargetable totem with 100% of your hp who take x% of our dmg for 10sec or until broken. Would be a good defensive capstone I think.
Also Anhk isnt a defensive. Lock has the same and Holy priest too.
If they want to have Ankh count as a defensive it MUST reset on boss pull. Defensives need to be able to be planned - and if its only up every ~10 pulls, then it’s not a defensive.
Have to agree. The fact that Reincarnation is even considered a “defensive” is just laughable. It’s an “oops, I messed up” button you can only use every 30 mins. For a class that can equip chainmail and a shield, Shaman are ridiculously squishy.
Lets not forget that its the only “Defensive” with a noticeable downside in some content. Ankhing and then (almost always) dying again costs your group 10 seconds in an M+. Minor as it may be no other defensive has a downside such as that.
