I just tried my first +8. It did not go well. It was the Rookery, and I was dying left and right to mechanics I was dodging in 5s and 6s. I even did a mistake I literally replied to here on the forums earlier today, accepting a Brez in an unsafe situation and immediately died.
So many unforced errors and dumb mistakes on my part. At least I used Thok the Bloodthirsty to Lust at the right times. I am not sure if it was nerves or what.
Anyway, Diary, I am going to keep trying and learning.
EDIT: Thanks all for the encouragement and nice words. I timed a +8 Priory, and obtained KSM: Season 2. Rating currently stands at 2011. I hope to continue to learn and progress.

Never give up. Watch a bunch of YouTube videos. Great teaching mechanics on there.

You have the right attitude.
Good luck!

We all have to get it out of our system from time to time.

The very first time you do a new difficulty it will always be super hard - biggest thing is to make sure you don’t beat yourself up too much about it!
Your next one will be better

You’ll get it, climb your way to a +8 diving into a high key is un-wise. It’s been a long time since I last been in a key, climbing key level helps and makes you recognize your strengths and weaknesses better.

Probably. One of the biggest improvements the average person can make is just playing their game. You need to respect the difficulty without putting it on a pedestal, as that’s how you get the yipps. Everyone can stand like a normal person until they start thinking about what they’re supposed to do with their hands.
You say it didn’t go well, but it sounds like a good run tbh. You tried and you failed, but you got back up and you reflected. Failure is not the opposite of success, but rather one of its ingredients.

Nerves are real. I put up my own 13 Mechagon Key with a couple buddies - trying to get to 3k.
Haven’t run that particular dungeon in a while (weeks, I think) and had never done it higher than a +10.
So, guess what happened? That’s right, stood in a bunch of stuff I shouldn’t have, died on Gardener boss to swirlies half-hidden in the flowers while trying to DPS the add, and giga-zapped the Healer in phase 2 of the final boss because I was too focused on where the Orbs were going to move to.
Ended up with several deaths, a couple wipes, and a bricked Key.
But you know what? We went back in the next day and double-upgraded it on a +12 with barely any deaths and no wipes.
So don’t let a bad run get you down, we all have That One Run once in a while where it feels like every decision you make is the wrong one and you feel like you’re letting the group down. All you can do is try to keep runs like that in the back of your head and try to avoid those same mistakes next time you’re in that dungeon.

I timed a 7 Rookery with only one death, so, I guess thats a bit of progress lol. Storms are coming, so I might have to call it for the night.

I’d argue this does make you a great player. Keep growing friend, and remember to have fun

have you tried using the one button rotation feature? it helps improve your gameplay
It would harm me more than help. I am a kinetic learner, which means learning the rotation is not only the best for my play, its the only way I can learn.
The extra GCD, however short it may be, messes with my timing of using things like my defensives.

Try a softer key like +7 or +6 key. What killed you. What did other players did to survive it? The mechanics is scripted. You will get a hint after repeatedly doing it. Keep on doing it, learn something from mistakes and keep moving forward. Everyone’s was once a noob.
Keep learning or stay Noob forever. I would choose the former.
As a fellow not so great player, you’ll get better with gear and practice, also i can’t overstate how important it is to run stuff regularly. Sometimes i’ll end up not going to a specific dungeon for a few months and then i get killed to something i should have remembered lol

I often panic and die to dumb things but it happens less over time.
Keep at it!

So yeah that would probably be me because I haven’t done any meaningful group content since, checks watch Cataclysm.
