I actually quite agree with this take

It’s not just mm hunters, though they are the worst offenders. I was on my goblin warlock Trakslibble the other day, just happily dotting, dotting, dotting all over AV and IoC and in many cases it was through stuff. Until those pesky DK’s pull me down into the ball of death and I go poof in a puff of green goblin goup. It would be nice to have more Los, I agree with that.

Can you imagine being death gripped into lava by the one blood dk who is in que for 2s atm, and just being stunned and slowed in it? The RAGE it would cause! Lol

We have some environmental stuff, but it is incidental. We have cliffs and edges to get blown off of (or run off of sometimes lol). We have water to get drowned in (never often).

Some of the player controlled vehicles and cannons can be dangerous.

But yeah, no lava. That would be cool.

Orgrimmar arena concept with shifting environment effects would’ve made more sense in bgs, instead of scrapping the entire concept altogether.

the ships in seething shore could drop bombs that were telegraphed for allies but damage everyone.

Arathi could technically flood in the mines, water could seep out from the mines progressively over a match, it wouldn’t completely flood but the lowest points could be unwalkable. (This is a genuine risk of building a mine in a coastal region, right?)

Twilight highlands could have miniature storm systems like plunderstorm that sweep across the map

WSG is pretty trash and I think it deserves an entire map remake. Have tree bridges and make the map more square with alternating flag drop offs, the grappling hook system from legion could make certain points more contested. Really they could just improve the maps by creating 20 man bgs that are modified maps of the 10 man.

Ironically I don’t even know where lava would fit the current pool, maybe silvershard, but its such a linear design that it wouldn’t really do much unless they do it like the wall near the giant boss in mc where if you hug the walls they deal fire damage.

Yea, this is another thing often overlooked.

Almost every dps class I want to play is forced into that stupid AoE playstyle in pvp. The two obvious examples are enhancement shaman with primordial wave and shadow priests with the shadow apparition build. The tier sets made these builds the only real option if you want to do damage in pvp. Granted, you can still win if you play more support roles without those talents.

Oh, and unholy DK is another example with its disease spreading.

You can’t add those things to the game unless they remove all force displacement abilities.
Which they should do, tbh.

that crackpot is real.

do you think wow doesn’t bring in new players?

also, they don’t have to be green new, they can be returning players who are now subbing because they watched an infamous wow pvpers stream.

how about wow just plain ban streamers?

they are using accounts owned by blizzard, and blizzard, just like Sony did against eBay decades ago, ban the use of all copyrighted media.

then what they can do, orayne they are doing it already, is take a portion of the streamers income as a royalty.

you are naive in thinking that game streamers do not generate interest for the game they represent.

and yes, the current streamer do get unwritten perks and special treatment by the games the represent.

I think it does but many of them are probably losing interest in record time cause the entire game right now is built around and catered toward the giga sweaties who have been on the game for 17 years.

Like i said i think many streamers audiences are people already playing the game. And i think they know this cause they like to do “viewer games” all the time.

Why would somebody who likes playing valorant come and watch a wow stream? They are more likely to watch a valorant stream instead.

ya they aren’t going to attract shooter looter types, but they will attract mmo types.

see: PoE devs admitting to streamers having login priority

The mmo genre is still niche at best.

I think wow has attracted all its really going to at this point its been the biggest mmo for years.

Some companies put a lot of stock in streamers… ignorantly so.

The way most of them play the game is not even a good indication of how the game truly plays. Cause sad to say most of them are usually bad at it.

most companies only need the viewer to purchase the game. what happens after does not matter. streamers bring those profits in.

there are many people who only play a game because their favorite streamer does and will drop it right when they do. they live through them basically.

It should matter.

If a bait and switch after purchase is the game plan of triple a it deserves to die.

There have been a lot of games like that fallout 76 anthem

Games that were marketed one way and the actual product turned out to be something wildly different entirely after it was already to late.

Blizzard does this with every game / expac.

Hmm. I won’t say I disagree with the points, but PvP largely shriveled up as a casual activity because it became miserable for the majority of players in games (DPS).

As it is now, health pools are so inflated you can’t really kill anyone, gear disparity doesn’t really exist so there’s no adrenaline rush when you 2 shot a guy in greens, and healers in BGs are so broken you can’t kill one without 3 people hitting him.

A big hit now is 1/10th or 1/15th of someone’s health. In the past it was usually anything from 1/3-1/5. There’s nothing more un-fun in BGs now than whittling a guy down just for 1 cast from a healer who ran over 40 yards away topping him off fully.

And that doesn’t really address the issue with healers healing each other, which needs some form of diminishing returns in BGs. Heal yourself, your role is already overpowered af in a casual setting.

If they were to improve the regular battleground environment and actually make it fun again, PvP would grow considerably and they could get useful feedback on actual problems and not what Asmongold postulates is the problem. As it is now, it feels like they decided to cater to nitwits who don’t know how to press a defensive to save themselves and felt getting globaled was “boring.”

3v3 balancing is why.
I agree 100%, healers are completely broken in PvP and damage is far too low.

Druids are kind of fine in my opinion,
at least we run out of mana and have to move around.
other classes just stand in 1 spot for 5mins spamming heals like a tank.
