I liked plunderstorm, yeah pvp isn’t really my thing but overall I enjoyed the grind to 40 renown, I got my butt kicked a lot, but I also ended up winning a few matches. Overall I think blizzard did a great job with this content, it was fun for me.

yes there are people who 100% trash on people who liked plunderstorm. YOU may not which is great but same can’t be said for some other people.
Discourse around it has only been getting more and more polarising / personal honestly. There’s absolutely people think those who enjoy PvP are somehow morally inferior.

That’s a pretty mutually held belief between those two camps that doesn’t really have much to do with Plunderstorm. Plunderstorm is barely PvP so that whole “PvPers vs PvEers” argument around it was goofy to begin with.
Not my cup of tea. Though, I don’t drink tea, nor coffee. Doesn’t mean others don’t. If you enjoy it great. That should be the only thing that matters. Is what you take from it, not what others think you should be doing and enjoying.
Just ignore those that feel the need to push theirs on to you. It is your game as much as it is theirs as well. And if they continue, I know of a very specific Romani curse that can be uttered that makes haters wake up every morning feeling they stepped in a large puddle of dog pee while wearing thin socks.
I rarely, if ever, have seen morals come up as a topic of discussion amongst pvpers. You are right that perhaps the two groups have, in general, been at loggerheads but not over mutually held beliefs.
Glad you enjoy it OP. Hope you continue to have fun for however long its up, don’t think they’ve announced the end date for it yet. I personally don’t like the Game Mode, and never will. But for those that do like it, Happy for you.
Personally curious to see what the PVE ‘experiment’ is that they’ve now mentioned.
Mostly mean that both camps find each other deficient and inferior and aren’t really quiet about it. It’s either “PvPers, the worst amongst us” or “PvEers, sad because they are bad.”
The hate is mutual and both sides get ugly about it.
I think it’s okay. Not exceptional, but not garbage like some of the haters claim it is. It’s a nice side-activity to do during the end-of-season lulls. I’ve just been popping in, getting a couple renown ranks, and then hopping off for the day.
I find that as long as I keep my daily goals small (2-3 renown ranks a day), don’t even try to win, and just not take it at all seriously… it can be a silly, fun distraction.
I have had mixed experiences, and am now Renown 10 (only 75% remaining. lol). I do enjoy the collecting plunder and spells in the early parts of the game. This is especially true when I drop into an area where no one else is around, and I can collect in peace. Gotta get that plunder for renown, right?
When I get a bit frustrated, is when I run into someone who is so gung ho about killing me within the first five minutes, that I can’t even leave the area, so that they can have the loots for themselves. I get that it’s PvP at its core, but any time I can’t even collect 100 plunder is a wasted match, for me, and I quickly requeue, if I haven’t reached my goal for the day.
I even managed to finish 6th once, and 8th once, without even managing to kill any other players. I think I’ve only got credit for one, maybe two, kills the entire 10 Renown levels. lol
This is how I’ve been approaching it, lately, too.
Blizzard took a jab at the pve players who ranted this event. That was the best thing they ever did in that April fools patch.

One suggestion I keep putting forward is to have the barrel be immune to damage for the first 15-30 seconds of the game. That way you can assess the risk of remaining in your initial location and leave without fear of being hunted if you’re not looking for a fight, or you can engage early to fight over resources but still concede without dying.
Understatement on that topic. Missed the old forums before they imploded (heh, warlock pun). Used to get really bad. So bad that irl threats would get made. Was entertaining, but bothersome to the degree of hatred that would happen. I would say, from my perspective it has died out cause I don’t post or lurk as much. Though that doesn’t mean it isn’t as bad as it can get.
Almost every single thread in the Plunderstorm section that praises the mode gets consistently flagged.

It does even my own threads about how to get #1 in a match got flagged at one point.
I enjoyed the grind to 40 though not enough to do it after.

While this is true for the most part, perhaps it’s just me but I tend to draw a distinction between “Bad at video game” and “Bad human being”.
