I’m still thinking about trinkets most days

I know it’s like my fifth thread on the subject, but Blizz won’t let me reply to my other ones and need an outlet. I never should have passed on heroic Pips, but I did, so here we are.

After running every trinket combo I have with Balefire Branch as the mainstay, my best “other” trinket is Sustaining Alchemist Stone. Crafted at 486. It procs often enough to be worth it and makes it so you basically run a single phial indefinitely.

I have ashes, but I don’t like it. The real benefit on ashes is when you go under 15% health which I rarely do, except I also immediately die. Maybe if there was a way to hurt myself and recover right away, that would be something.

I’ve not seen the berolsi thing ever, so gave up on that, though I hear it’s pretty hot.

I feel your pain. At this point I’m convinced Augury is just a myth.

Actually I have seen it drop one or two times in LFR and I rolled against EVERYONE on it but of course didn’t get it. The raid finder version wouldn’t even be an upgrade, I just rolled out of spite lol.

Belor’relos I actually got from a timewalking cache. I about fell out of my chair. I’ve never seen Tindral actually drop it. It is very nice and hits like a truck. Trade offs of course are you need to be in melee range and it also damages you, but both of those things can be managed.

Anyway good luck. I’m not sure why they saw fit to give the best trinkets in the game a lower drop rate than the legendary weapons, especially since just about every class wants the trinkets, but here we are.

Which spec are you playing?

Arcane spec

Tindral trinket and mirror are your highest simming trinkets but I think a lot of mages run augery

Yea, I’ve got a mythic mirror, but prefer Balefire branch (especially on Fort weeks), because it lines up with every surge, instead of every other.

What I really want is that spectral shark trinket at 489….wish they let us have that.

You would run both. Branch for every surge and mirror for every other small go

Mirror is weird. It seems to be dependent on your secondary stats. I got a mythic mirror and it simmed like 3k higher than my 483 balefire branch but in practice i did less dps. My other trinket is a 483 sea star and no matter what I sim, including double on-use, sea star stays at the top for me.

Mage is just an alt so I’m not hellbent on figuring it out (and I haven’t touched the toon in weeks).

Hmm, I’ve run Branch with Mirror and Branch with Ashes before, using them as a mini-burn in between, so maybe I’ll give both of those another try. I think I just never got the timing right on the secondary trinket. Branch makes it easy because it lines up 100% with surge. I always felt like I was wasting the other because I didn’t have a good alignment, but maybe that’s an area I can mess with.

Do you bind your trinkets or macro them?

If you’re bond set up is comfortable you could have a macro for branch with surge and then a macro for a second radiant spark with mirror.

I have never used so many macro’s on so many toons before in any expansion.

Button bloat for days …

Yes, it’s macro, macro everywhere for me. There are so few spells I use strait.

But I just realized with the longer cooldowns of mirror and ashes, I could alternate them with each surge, so for example surge one is with ashes and surge 2 is with mirror…but that leaves me nothing in-between…but would give me an option that links with every surge. hmmm, gonna have to see if they work out.

the difference is going to be fight length. I think best bet is to use branch every surge and then use mirror on every other mini burn.

I have focus agony/siphonlife/drain soul/corruption on affliction lol

Yea I just ran one and actually ended up oom a lot more than usual. The Ashes and Mirror don’t have mastery+, so lowered my overall manapool. I think I like the secondary affect from ashes when I drop below 15% health, as a nice rando boost. So trying that.

I think branch is a better go to than ashes honestly

OOooh snap … I only have corruption/siphon life, darkglare/nymue’s, and vile taint/soulrot macro’d to each other.

Can you share the macro???

It’s individual macros for each ability.

It’s just

/cast [@focus] siphon life

Ect

It’s not one macro for every ability.

Oh focus macro’s … i’ve never used those. How do focus macro’s work?

They make it so you can target something without targeting it.

Example being Huntsman in Nathria or Sire in Nathria.

What I could do is set Huntsman/Remonia as focus.

Then I could target the bears/Sire press my normal binds for agony (w) corruption (e) siphon life (q) and it would apply those dots to Bear/Sire

Then without swapping targets I could push focus agony (z) focus corruption (x) focus siphon life (c) and it would apply those dots the focus target huntsman/remonia without having to swap targets. Made it easier to maintain dots on two targets.
