I’m concerned about the future of PvP

I love Solo Shuffle, it’s my favorite game mode and I exclusively play it if I want to PvP in this game as LFG is just an awful tool.

The problem however is the DPS queue times for Shuffle.

I took a day off last week, and throughout the entire day I only got 6 queues to pop from morning to night and some queues went on for 40+ min.

I tried to LFG some games in the mean time and LFG is Wrath levels of dead where it’s a very small group of people signed up, and it’s an even bigger waste of time.

As time goes on people are not going to want to queue Shuffle anymore if it’s still 30+ min per game and LFG already being this dead is not a good sign for future participation.

It seems like PvP is slowly heading down a decline despite having a solo queue, easy gearing, etc. and idk what can be done to stop it.

A month or two from now when DF hype is dead, will people even want to solo queue or do arenas anymore with its current state?

LFG is dead because the people who would normally be in it are sitting 40 minute queues instead.

wow before solo q > all i do is sit in lfg i can’t get healers to wanna play with me

Bring back unranked solo shuffle. Add soft invis MMR and call it a day

disable all arenas and funnel into battlegrounds, allow acquisition of conquest and vault honor through said medium. problem solved.

Trying to encourage bg players to try arena didn’t work, so I’m not sure why anybody might think this would.

bro the issue is people suck. like every time i get close to elite i get some tilted neckbeard healer that refuses to play or outright griefs. like wtf what can you even do?!

i think the idea is that there are significantly more BG players than Arena players so funneling everything into BGs would make PvP more populated in theory

even if you lost some Arena-only players, the amount would be negligible compared to doing it the other way

not sure i agree with it being the best option moving forward, tho. i do think RBG should have a solo que option

Also, what does Enhance play like in keys? Enhance is the only spec I’ve never tried but it seems to always be good for M+. Does it play like other melee where you primarily use instants, or is there a lot of ramp up involved like Ele?

i truly believe everyone hates arena, even those that say they enjoy it
what we need are new game modes, they should be using brawl to experiment not throw out the same stupid ones every 5-6 weeks whatever it is

RSS seems to be doing fine, minus the tilt.

Crazy thought: What if they allowed players to queue solo for rated 3s and the game just filled the gaps, similar to dungeon finder?

If you’re by yourself, great.

If you have one DPS with you, great.

If it’s you and one healer buddy, great.

If you have a team of three, that’s fine too.

This would allow people who want the option of playing solo the chance to pursue titles like Gladiator (albeit at a disadvantage) without negatively impacting the 3s ladder or players’ ability to queue it up with friends.

I think the only argument you could make is that it would be “competitive” for a team in voice to play against a team with no voice, but then again… no one is stopping you from queueing with a team.

I think that’d lead to a bit of premade vs rando frustration.

I agree, but half the random groups in queue at lower MMR don’t hop into disc anyway. It would be no different than signing up in LFG and queueing. Plus, no one is forcing you to queue solo.

No matter the system, players will always blame some kind of imbalance for their own lack of performance. Gear, LFG, matchmaking, class design, etc… comms/no comms isn’t any different, and at least it wouldn’t negatively impact other game modes.

we should just have another world war and send all the toxic people to the front lines.

Sadly it will most likely be dead in a couple months, queues are long because healing ss is not only not fun but its also stressing and unrewarding, most games you just play pass the idiot around with the other healer, so you both end 3-3 with unchanged rating and feel terrible after healing your hearth out. Every change blizzard made up until now attacked the symptom instead of the problem, instead of making healing more enjoyable they just started matching any healer with any match disregarding rating, which in the process just made the problem, the stress of healing ss, way worse.

What did they also do in the last patch? they nerfed every healer that could somehow keep up with the damage and at the same time they greatly increased the overall damage levels in the meta due to the catalyst now giving most players their 4 set, again, making the healing experience worse.

Lets just really think about it for a second, they acknowledge the lack of healers and the need to find ways to encourage people to play healer and next patch they just basically tell healers to f* off and reroll warrior.

then there’s disc priest, the only healing class that is enjoyable to play because it’s the only one that can help secure a kill when you have the idiot in your team, it’s the one healer that makes you go “maybe i can come out with a 4-2”, and everyone is crying nerf. The reality is that that’s the way you get more healers, the real answer is to take some damage from every dps class and give it to the healer, so we don’t feel like our hands are tied every time we have some uncarryable guy in our team.

But ofcourse this wont happen, blizzard devs don’t see healers as players, we are just an accesory so dps can go zug zug. I would bet anything that every pvp dev either doesn’t play the game or if it does is on a dps spec because with every patch they show us again and again that when they balance the game they do it EXCLUSIVELY from a “what feels good as a dps” perspective. Notice how every effort to make arenas shorter was to reduce the ability of healers to fulfill their role, they increased dampening they introduced 50% mortal strike effects, they never thought for a second about making games faster by giving healers some damage because they don’t really see us as players.

TLDR: To solve a problem first you need to understand it, and they don’t, so they won’t.

It would have to be just solo or premade 3s.

And if you require a healer for 3s in soloq, I would wager dps queue times would be just as bad.
