Hypothetical

Say you subscribe to WoW early and therefore pay an extra fee to reserve your name, and name your character something controversial like “Deportdonald” or something, and blizzard finds your name to be offensive / bans your name and makes you change it. Will you get your $ back?

You dont pay an extra fee to reserve a name. So no there is nothing to refund.

I heard you can pay extra to reserve your name? Or am I mistaken.

Name reservations open on the 13th to all active subscribers

Play stupid games with names, win stupid prizes.

That goes for the left or the right.

What if you buy subscription time early then?

Of course you won’t get refunded. Names always need to abide by the ToS.

On the flip side 15$ is a small price to pay though to learn to suppress your inner edgy teenager.

Depends. If it’s something clearly offensive, I’d say no. If it’s something the hyper-sensitive knee-jerk reactionary culture of today finds “offensive,” I would argue that into the dirt, to include doing a credit card dispute if Blizzard would not willingly give my money back.

The sub is for wow you get to reserve names for free. So no refund.

You’re paying $15 to subscribe to WoW for a month.

Blizzard doesn’t care if you were subscribing for a specific reason that then changed. They don’t give you the money back.

You paid $15 and got you the 1 month subscription. That’s the entire transaction.

No no and … um no.
You choose to subscribe to WoW before you are ready to play WoW (classic or retail) so therefore the onus is on you not Blizzard.

Cry hard enough to an agent and you might very well get something. Companies these days hand out credits/gifts/etc to practically anyone that cries to them on phones. Earlier this year I called Walmart to tell them my package was late, and the lady sent me a 20$ coupon code. I didn’t even sound angry or ask for anything. You can bet she got a max star survey for that call.

If you’re strapped for cash don’t sub in the first place. Go get a job.

If you make a name against ToS then it’ll get changed. You know this going in.

No.

Moral of the story : Don’t be a Dumbass

Let me guess, you heard that the BlizzCon demo cost $50 too.

This is what we call a stupid tax. You don’t get it back.

I’m fairly certain even the biggest political zealot in all of blizzard isn’t petty enough to ban the name “Deportdonald”.

However, The childlike mentality that comes from the player with a name like that will eventually get him/her banned for the trolling/things said in general chat that is sure to follow.
