I agree, don’t get me wrong. I was generalizing some comments I’ve read in game, on these forums, and in the Twitterverse. It’s also possible I jumped to the wrong conclusion and if so, I apologize.
Exactly, problem solved, and worth every penny.
I started out on Icecrown in vanilla, because some RL friends played there. But it was a CST server and I was PST, so the times were never good for me. So I moved to Windunner.
See previous post for how Windrunner turned out. 
So we moved to Silvermoon, which was at the time the major Horde-heavy PvE west coast server.
Eventually Silvermoon tilted Alliance, so I moved again to Hyjal, where I’ve been ever since. (That was during Mists.)
Moving to a better server is well worth it.

Hyjal isn’t half-dead. It’s a medium pop server. That spikes during peak times. They are gonna monitor it to make sure the population stays healthy. Merging these servers with much smaller ones or sharding would be better.
Btw, I went to Hyjal because it is Horde dominated.

Why not just transfer 1-2 each and make any future characters on that server? You don’t need every character on the same server.

I think most of Hyjal’s population did. Merging it with Proudmoore would just kill Horde Hyjal as within 3 or 4 years everyone would just migrate to Tichondrius.

Which is should be standard practice in every single realm. Those things aren’t unique to one server, they happen everywhere.

Wow, 4 horde players on the server at peak? That’s INSANE!
I have fond memories, as an eu player, of the realms das konsortium and die todeskrallen, the first of them was ally and the 2nd was horde, and back in early 2014, just before they got connected (still aren’t too big post connection even if they’re a 6-way) it wasn’t unusual to find 50-100 people at peak time on dominant faction and under 50 on weak one!
