Huntsman a little overtuned?

I joined a guild raid as a pick up, 180+ group. We had the mechanics a little rough at first, but eventually got them down pat. We wiped 11 times, apparently they had wiped 18 in total (which is really low seemingly). All the streams I had in background seemed to be stuck on huntsman too. I was paying attention to the raid finder groups, well over 60% of the groups were on huntsman, or looking for people stuck on huntsman the entire night. I saw a total of 2 groups past 4 bosses all night and a lot of fresh ones, but the vast majority were all on hunstman.

I think his overall damage is a little overtuned. His arrows are massive damage over time on top of the fact that there are many soak mechanics and a healer check. It is way too much for healers to deal with if everything lines up in a bad spot.

We’re running 6-7 healers in a 26 man and they’re going OOM on the second pet, even without messing up the rip soul or hitting extra people with sinseeker. Just doing the sinseeker correctly is running 6 healers out of mana halfway through the fight on normal.

Was trying in a 20 man with 4 healers and there was absolutely no way it was dying.

His arrow DoT deals 8k damage every 2 seconds for 30 seconds, while the tanks take heavy damage and phase 2 requires heavy spot healing as well.

Its just way to much to keep up with outside of heavy healer stacking

EDIT: We got it to phase 3 once with no extra dots spreading and we were all running on fumes still lol

The Sinseeker DoT is likely overtuned, my group struggled for a good bit on him until we worked out some serious healer cd rotations.

Doable for sure. But the damage going out on normal mode was way too high.

The wierd thing about the fight is that odd relaxed period after you kill all his pets. It’s like you just kinda chill, hang out, and kill him after all that.

My group did this with 4 healers. I (vengeance DH) tanked Huntsman on the bottom left corner of the room with 2 healers focused on me. Blood DK top right, with 2 healers on them.

We kept the the melee stacked on the huntsman so we can easily dodge and spread the Sinseeker DoT and stacked on the shades when the time was right. Overall the fight took 4 attempts.

Huntsman’s DoT is very painful.

Our group noticed that the boss was just way easier with more people.

We tried it with 2/2/6 but it was just too much damage, went to 2/4/9 and it became a whole lot easier.

The big thing was that he still only shot 3 sinseakers even with more people.

Yeah, we just got done with a bunch of sub %15 wipes in a pug raid, the sinseeker hurts like hell, and the raid damage off the pet in p3 mixed in is also a bit strong, but I feel it’s manageable if healers weren’t so oom due to sinseeker.

Also, if you get petrifying and sinseeker on you, gl

Tried it on Heroic and we were seeing 10k avg sinseeker ticks. Healers couldn’t keep up between that and tank damage. Dropped to normal and he was a joke - way less damage going out. We had 6 healers on heroic, 5 on normal as one had to leave.

Did the fight on heroic tonight. The sinseeker does indeed hit very hard. We 28 manned it with 6 healers. Its definitely doable, it became a lot easier once people followed mechanics. But I agree the sinseeker is overtuned.

Our guild gave up after 10 wipes, and moved to another boss. Just no way to handle the sinseeker.

my guild attempted heroic Huntsmen today, 30 man raid. the sinseeker dots were ticking for 13-14k every 2 seconds for 30 seconds, 2 ticks kills some of our raid at that point. even while popping cds it felt unhealable, we gave it a few attempts and just moved on to normal and with 30 people normal was doing 9-10k which was still alot but managable and we 1 shot it. my server usually has 6ish guilds that clear Cutting edge and tonight no guild got past heroic huntsman. I think the problem isnt that its still hitting 3 people i think that the damage shouldnt be scaling up with difficulty. it should have a set amount based on 3-4 tick kills 8-10k ticks on heroic. but if you go in with a 10 man group the dungeon journal said it was only 4-5k a tick which is laughable. but the more people you add the more the damage goes up, which to me in this case doesnt make sense. maybe more targets but not higher damage

8k isn’t bad for normal. Heroic is 15k a tick… so be on the lookout for that good happy fun time.

It’s a very interesting and fun fight. But the damage is a bit high. If the debuff could be dispelled it would fix the fight easily. Or reduce the DOT damage by 30-40% on all difficulties.

Also if you could bait the shots like if it targeted the players who are the furthest from the boss. Then you could bait cloak of shadows, ice block, turtle, divine shield for 1 or 2 out of every sin.

Yeah Sinseeker seems to be hitting a little too hard. Otherwise the raid has been really fun so far!

Yeah our guild tried it on heroic and couldn’t get to the 3rd beast. Those bleeds/dots were just way to insane to heal and having to keep the tanks up. It does “seem” over tuned but it also may be the fact that 180-185 is actually a little low.

The gear that drops is almost 30 ilvls different that what we have equipped. It has to be a little of both between undergeared and over tuned

A boss having the minor inconvenience known as difficulty, does not mean it is overtuned.

You just keep the ghost pet CC’d, when he reaches high enough stacks you blow him up. The only hard part about the fight is the 3rd pet when you have to move him around to remove stacks or he’ll really hurt the tank.

We did this on normal after a handful of wipes with 30 people. It definitely took a few tries to get mechanics. Sun King is busted tho.

Yeah it was pretty insane. We’re a CE guild and got him down but it was rough and took like 10 wipes
