I can only speak for the color I need “Bakar Hunting Color: Orange” drop rates per week are 1.7% first bag, 1.1% second bag, 0.4% third bag and 0.3% fourth bag. I assume it’s 0.3% for any bag after that for the week. Other colors odds are about the same according to wowhead. These odds are worse than some mounts odds. Take for example the mount “invincible” at 0.77%. You could find that mount twice and still not find the last color.
I made a comment about hunting colors and I stated I should get the last color in 5 to 8 weeks. I was told I’ll get it way sooner than that. That was about 8 weeks ago. I have done some research since then and based on these odds a more realistic time frame is 1 to 2 years at which point Taivan may evolve and become a flying mount. Based on 4 hunts per week.
I do 4 hunts per week now, that’s enough disappointment for me. At some point I did 30 per week for 2 weeks back-to-back then 20 then 10 and I had to quit wow for 12 days because I couldn’t handle the disappointment so I decided to take a break out right from wow. To avoid that I just do 4 hunts per week now. That’s my limit. I’m not gonna deal with disappointment over and over and over and over again. That’s not gonna happen.
To my fellow “Two-Foot” out there who don’t have alts or play wow as a casual game, this is the hand that we got dealt with and we’ll get the last color in about 1 to 2 years because there is no fail-safe mechanic for players like us. The person who designed this thing thought that all players have an army of alts or can do 40 hunts per week. These odds are worse than mounts drop. I managed to find 2 hard to get mounts recently and still can’t find the last color. Mounts were “Ascended Skymane 5%” and “Blisterback Bloodtusk 2.45%”
I have been working on “A World Awoken” for almost 6 months now and still can’t finish it. That’s half a year or ¼ of an expansion. I finished “Back from the beyond” last week even though I started working on it 3.5 months ago.
I wouldn’t mind doing 30 or even 40 hunts per week if I knew it’s part of the fail-safe mechanic. Meaning if I did 100 hunts with no color drop, the 101 hunt will add 1% chance while the 120 hunt will add a 20% chance all the way to run 200 which will be at 100% chance. This will change an RNG based achievement to a sure thing based on player effort. That is what I mean by fail-safe. It’s probably too late now to make an implementation of this magnitude, but for future rng achievements if they have to be part of the game, put a fail-safe on it instead of pure disappointment.
