Lately I’ve seen many hunters running around with int gears. To my horror, some of them even wielding items like Illusionary Rod, + int cloth shoulders and rings. When asking them, they told me they need int badly or they go oom fast. Their friends (in a group) also jump in to their defense and said int is important for hunters. I had a hunter back in vanilla and I only went for +agility and stamina gears. I don’t know what to say at this point.
illusionary rod is actually quite good for hunters. Decent stam and int/spirit makes mana pool bigger and last longer. Agility will make their shots hit harder though.
If this is true, then you would understand how true this is,
You answered your own question.
Never been a problem for me
Kargoz’s stat priority for hunters:
https://forum.classicwow.live/topic/39/1-60-hunter-leveling-guide-by-kargoz/2
Stat Priority
Agility
Increases attack power with melee weapons by 1 and ranged weapons by 2
Increases your crit chance by 0.0189% (1% crit per 52.91 Agility)
Increases Armor by 2 and Dodge by 0,0377% (1% dodge per 26.5 Agility)
Strength
Increases attack power with melee weapons by 1.
Stamina
Increases health points by 10 per point.
Intellect
Increases mana points by 15 per point and the rate at which weapon skills improve.
Spirit
Increases health & mana regeneration rates.Agi > Int > Spirit > Stam > Strength
10 AP = 1.37 DPS
1 Crit = 4.8 DPS
1 Crit = 35,03 AP
1 AP = 0,0285% Crit
Stat priority is just silly to point out for a questing hunter…
Your generalising how a hunter choose to level up.
I hate being in melee range with a passion, I’d rather take a little longer to kill a mob, and have mana for utility so I can keep at range.
When we are talking end game raiding, sure stat priority is a thing, but telling me strength is more important then intellect because it increased my melee attack power when I never use melee ,shows me you have no understanding on how I level , and that’s fine why should you… but please not point out this crap for leveling… strength is lower the spirit for me, and yes during leveling I will roll on caster gear… get over it… but I can assure you come raid time, I will respect caster gear and leave it to them…
I’m sure they’re being serious, but at the same time, just for the LOLs, I’d probably have a Hunter in a Caster’s Garb, myself 'cause why not? I really need to create that Guild called “Warriors in Dresses”.
Huntar weap.
Not really. Stat priority still is a thing for leveling, albeit less stringent. It doesn’t make sense for a Mage to stack Agility while leveling. Int is obviously more beneficial to said Mage. In this case with a Hunter, Int is #2 on basic stat priority. Picking up an item that has boatloads of their second best stat, is probably a pretty good upgrade. Is that more meaningful to the Mage? Probably, but still defensible that the Hunter would Need on it.
Not sure where you’re getting anyone here is saying Str is better than Int on Hunter though.
If you only went for stamina and agility gear back in vanilla, then you probably never used any of your abilities. Hunter use mana for their abilities.
You should almost never be taking straight int gear as a hunter. It is probably a sure sign of a noob. The additional small amount of mana is not enough to warrant gimping your auto shot by not taking gear with at least some agi or attack pwr. If you are oom you need to manage your resources better, ask for BoW, use consumables, etc. The ideal green gear for a hunter is “of the falcon”, which is agi and int. Any hunter with straight int pieces is probably pretty bad. That said there is room for it IF you stacked a few straight agi pieces and you’re balancing that out.
Spirit is ok for reducing down time while leveling, but once you hit 60 drops down the priority list to a far far distant 3rd.
Your special attacks are a relatively small part of your dps, your auto shot and pet are probably 70%+ most fights.
That’s actually from his leveling guide.
Well, I don’t. In fact right now I don’t have any int gear. If I get some as a quest reward or something, I’ll wear it, though.
I was just posting what one of the respected theorycrafters says.
Yeah sorry wasn’t meaning to reply to you directly but the OP.
I don’t know man. It’s not like those +int gears are gonna increase your damage. I found it annoying the fact they are wearing pure caster gears that ain’t really beneficial to them while a class like mage can make FULL use of it. Like Hammerhead said, they should just get some green falcon/monkey gears instead of robbing pure caster gears in dungeons.
And on a PvP realm they’re doubly screwing themselves, as they’ll get melted by any melee class, or other hunters if wearing clothe. Rogues will especially love it.
I’ve been surprised how often when running dungeons I see a hunter in party chat saying “oom.” Lol as if their mana matters in the group setting the way a healers mana matters.
How long do you want the fight to be?
A healers mana dictates how long the fight can last. A hunters does not. If a hunter goes oom he can still have his pet attack, and use his auto shot.
If the DPS is just autoattacking, it’s going to be a long fight. Again, how long do you want the fight to be?
