oh no, not behind the druids! Blizzard needs to call an emergency meeting! lol
Hunters will giga fall off late so dont even worry about them all crying now, I dont think runes can even save them due to how bad their scaling is
The fact that you can sick your wind serpent onto somebody in max bis gear and let it 1v1 them while you arent even on their screen because pet aggro doesnt exist and you as the hunter are 400 yards away is a problem that for some reason hunters dont understand
What data suggests hunters are somehow worse than mages? There’s nothing to support that. Currently they are 3rd and better than 6 other classes.
Mages have the easiest way to cheese parses. Really the best way is to take a single target tank and spank. All things being equal (as much as possible) who wins? Of course things aren’t that simple. But in terms of immediate impact to a BFD run right now, the hunter easily wins if gear is relatively equal.
If you’re a part of an average guild, and not a really super geared one that kills all the bosses sub 1:30 seconds, then the gap is even wider. Just generally scanning parses doesn’t really work. You get a couple evocates that entire BFD run. Otherwise, you’re running with the mana bar you have. Even the mages that purple parse, you’ll see that they’ll parse for one or two bosses then do garbage dps for the rest of the raid. Mana is that big a problem.
I have purple parses, but I have to pick and choose the fights. Our Gamoorah kills are still 2 minutes long.
Because the squeaky wheel gets the oil.
Blizzard gave into the cries of bad players. And if their stated goal was to shift power out of the pet and into the hunter, their most recent change failed to do that as it only resulted in a 12% nerf to hunter damage overall as BM rune is still bis, and the other options saw about a 1-2% overall improvement, again with bm rune still bis.
Things they could do to make the other runes better
Rune of chimera shot also increases serpent sting damage by 25% RaP over its duration
-buffs dps and chimera shot damage
Rune of explosive shot will also cause targets effected by serpent sting to deal 100% of the remaning durations damage instantly and consume serpent sting (no scaling bonus on serpent sting though)
-buffs damage of serpent sting by having a way to instantly burn it off (but its still only base damage) so it keeps it balanced
-this would also make serpent spread more attractive with this for aoe damage, and could be made even better if serpent spread removed the target limit of multi shot and just hit all targets within 8 yards of the target, this would make this a strong aoe combo even if multi shot only did 25% weapon damage after 3 targets hit.
They want to move power out of the pet, thats fine, but they need to give real compensation buffs in return unless their goal was just to nerf hunters more. Which is what it seems to be based on what has taken place so far.
This isn’t entirely true, you can sustain mana with the right gear. You swap accordingly for the bosses, and you do need to play much better than a hunter to beat them in DPS.
However, Shock is wrong. Hunters beat out mages at the top end on every boss but gamoorah. Kelris still has strong fire/arc resistance, and you do need evocate for Jett and Akumai to even keep doing DPS.
They are not currently third.
And in your “average” guild, the chances of only needing one mana bar on Kelris is also small. So this means you’re wanding half the time on Akumai. Then you have the Murloc boss and Jett back to back.
You can generally evo on jett and then again on akumai
I’m… not seeing anything to reflect this. Aggregate data on warcraftlogs is saying that hunters are 3rd and 4th at 95th percentile. Do you have anything that contradicts this?
They’re 4th at 99th percentile.
Good luck doing that at higher levels, that is unique to level 25 later levels when tanks need tank talents and more tank runes i expect pet tanking to be weaker
You should both be looking at median and above. Balance is rarely done for the highest echelong of powergamers, because they’re an irrelevant minority in terms of playerbase.
Not if the question is “how powerful is the class” no. Because the objective strength of each class is only shown when piloted correctly.
The difference between median and above rarely has anything to do with how one plays the class, and a lot more to do with gear, buffs, comp, RNG in crits, consumes, and the like.
I wish Warcraftlogs would let me look at data excluding the top 5% and bottom third for that reason, so we could get an accurate picture of what the fights are like for the actual majority of players.
Mages at the top of the rankings are having another mage come in and spam improved scorch and nothing else so that they get the damage increase. So as long as that is happening its an unreal scenario that people are using to cheese parses.
