It pains me to say this, but they do. They’re the only pure class left in the game. Every other class can play two roles. Heal or dps. Tank or dps. Or even all 3. Hunters are stuck doing just dps. Hell even rogues can tank lol.

I’m on board with this. I wanted to roll hunter until I saw the nerf last week, hunters are the only class that (so far) can only DPS. Maybe we’ll see something different in the next phases

Or you know we could just not have a hybrid tax, and all dps specs can do good dps.

Then give hunters the ability to either tank or heal. Right now, they’re gimped.
the hybrid tax got flipped and now you must pay the pure dps tax

Only having one role does not gimp them. Besides, at least for horde, they’re the only option for kings.

Yea, and it prevents them from using aspect of the hawk which is pretty dumb.

A hybrid tax was always stupid from the start. Some pure classes had more utility than hybrids. There was never any justification for it.
I wouldn’t have an issue with hunter tanks though. Feel free to add that too. Maybe the only pet tank tanking class rather than a dodge type thing that would be similar to rogues.
A hunter healing spec or support spec could work too. Either a ranger style healer using potions and what not or maybe an animal spirit buffing type thing.

This makes it worse. Not only will they have sub par dps but now they’re going to be forced to use runes that they might not want. They should have given kings to warrior or something.

you can trainthem, they can be good.
Hunters can tank single target pet taunt. Maybe make a more threat Aoe taunt for dung and raids be cool.
Don’t know how many time a tank left group and went cleared rest with just pet taunt
If you asked me a Hunter tank would have been cooler than a rogue tank. Hunter Tank could fill the ranged tank role for sure. Having good tanking against casters for instance. They have Distracting Shot as a taunt as well.
The other thing that needs to be fixed is how pets aren’t very viable for raids because they get smushed so easily at that point.

Yeah, because all of the tanks are sitting around going, “Lawdy lawdy, I’m so glad I can tank fo’ you massa.”. Tanks should suffer lower dps on other specs for having the privilege to go to work for a class that pulls every single time they’re not ready. Those poor hunters with their 3 dps specs sitting safely at 41 yards. ;(
