Sounds like a nightmare. I have specific pets for each Hunter, not to mention that Beast Masters have sole access to Exotics. What a muddled mess this would create, like we need another one after being subjected to these horrible talent trees. You want a Rare on multiple characters, put in the effort. That’s part of the game. This game has enough shortcuts already.
This + let us change between Ferocity, Tenacity and Cunning.
If they want to TEALLY show us some love being back our pet talent trees - dumping those two things was one of the biggest mistakes.
Same, with the additional burden of having 24 hunter alts, most of whom use the same pets. i don’t need 48 identical copies of each pet materialising in my stable one day. i would DEFINITELY be arrested for poaching
This would be great!! Having just levelled a second hunter in mop remix, it would be great to have shared pets. It makes sense for them to be treated the same as mounts, and have them account wide. It would also be great to be able to change their appearance or type!
Also, obviously if they implemented this you wouldn’t get multiple copies of the same pet… They would just show unique ones
Just here to chime in and say a well thought out account-wide system would be an amazing boon. Especially if each pet that could be captured were on that list prior to capturing it. We already have the ability to google what pets exist, so most of us (not all of us, but most) will look at these resources to figure out what is available and where to go and capture it.
So why not just put that info in game? Such and such wolf is here, such and such exotic is there. You could even have little icons at the bottom showing what specialty exotics you can currently tame: undead, dinos, etc. And, if you don’t have it yet, the little icon could show where you need to go to get the manual for said exotic type.
It’d be an amazing new, cool thing for hunters, to be able to go out hunting for new animal friends all via ingame blizz made info. What a wonderful new world we could be stepping into!
Also, to the I think one guy that talked about 500 of this or 5k of that: it’s fairly obvious that the first thing that would happen is any duplicates would be erased. I think a simple implementation of pet names could be used with a toggle button of “account wide/character specific” so you can choose whether or not naming your pets names them for all hunters or per character.
None of this is particularly hard. They already have the stables. It’s a one time run of parsing x hunters where x is the number of hunters you have into a single data table of all your currently captured animals. It’s a simple “have you captured it or not” check. This could be run on playing a hunter on your account for the first time. Simple, low energy stuff here.
I’d say, to make coding even easier, initially all names would be reset to default. Then when you hop on your first hunter, you get the option to set it to character or account for naming, and then go from there. But if they wanted to be fancy, default could be character specific, and the names could all come along for the ride.
For the sake of QoL, they should remove the 5 pet system and allow us to tame directly into our stables. Just like the battle pet system. The new UI should have two slots, one for the pet, one for BM’s second pet (greyed out when the talent hasn’t been taken yet, or when you’re a different spec).
That would all be awesome QoL for our hunters.
You could use this same logic for mounts, battle pets, or even appearances, and anyone would tell you (reasonably so) that it’s idiotic. This change is long due.
I could see this. Really, i want to try and collect all the appearances/colors for all pets. Even if it was a seapare pet per family, and then you can customize the look with any options you have collected.
So like, you have a Bear pet, but then can change how that Bear looks, but then in your stable you also have one of each of the other pet families you have tamed.
Now that we have ability to swap pet specs, I do think that this would be very neat.
