Hunter's Mark is the future of raid buffs

Hunter’s mark is the coolest and most awesome raid buff in the entire game. We get to choose exactly one target to apply it to at a time, and it costs a global to apply. We have the privilege of asking ourselves exciting questions such as “is it even worth pressing on the prio target for this pull, or do I just never use it because nobody will even notice?” Our raid buff leads to incredibly engaging gameplay and it’s a shame they haven’t used the same design philosophy on the other classes yet.

We already know Hunter’s Mark is perfect. As for other classes, here’s what I’m thinking for the future of our beautiful game. Chaos Brand and Mystic Touch can now only be applied to one target at a time, and is also on the GCD. Obvious change. Everyone will love it. Next up are the 60 minute raid buffs. People are bored of thoughtlessly pressing a spell like Arcane Intellect to give everybody the buff. Furthermore, giving a warrior AI kills a mage’s immersion. YUCK! 60 minute raid buffs should have to be applied to the each target individually and have a 5 minute duration instead. This way, they can keep applying the buffs during combat. This will give everyone more to do, and therefore lead to more fun.

Satirical obviously. I just think it’s weird how little I hear people complaining about how poorly designed this buff is, especially after every delinquent doing keys just realized this season that physical comps can work well in m+. The debuff itself is fine enough despite the weird health threshold aspect, but its absolutely insane that it’s not applied automatically the same way that Mystic Touch and Chaos Brand are. Personally I feel like it might have been intended to work this way originally, or it was at least considered, but then they instead decided to give it a “nostalgic feel” where it was applied to only one target at a time just as it is in classic wow. Overall, I’m just hoping more people start complaining about this and ask for this specific change because it requires hardly any effort on their part. It’s a much easier solve than the DK raid buff debacle for them.

Any argument supporting this debuff working the way it does is asinine, or at the very least, intellectually dishonest. If you want to take something away to give hunters this instead (for some stupid reason) there are pet effects that are honestly nothing but annoying to ever consider. For example… do I want mortal strike, or monkey agility on my pet? Just get rid of that entire category of pet talents and fix hunter’s mark. It’s real odd this wasn’t already done when we were given the option to choose pet specs. Honestly, half the reason for my complaint is just that I want a stable full of monkeys.

Uhhh… also if your first thought as a developer is to add a talent point to the class or spec tree to achieve this… politely take a vacation and clear your head. Shoutout to when paladins hated consecration so they added a node on the prot talent tree for QoL. It’s suboptimal to waste a point for pure QoL, and therefore unusable and nothing was solved. Keep up the good work John Blizzard, you’re doing great things!
