In TBC, hunters prefer fist weapons, all else being equal, since the weightstone for blunt weapon adds crit as well as the weapon damage. Question is - is this the same in Wrath as well? I’m trying to decide on some leveling weapons for my hunter alt, and I would like to know if this preference for hunter fist weapons is still going to be a thing in Wrath.
In wrath your weapons are basically just stat sticks again unless you plan on melee weaving and then the actual damage of weapon is taken into consideration.
Edit: I should note that you can still use those weight stones while leveling until your weapons get to be too high a level.
The best weapons in TBC are 2h as you should be melee weaving.
However currently in WOTLK you cant melee weave, trap weaving will be a thing tho.
I believe its because swing timer and shot timer are the same, so if you go in to raptor strike it resets your auto shot timer. Which is why it currently isnt worth doing on the beta.
If you can’t melee weave in Wrath, are fist weapons still better than the other one handed weapons for the weightstone perk or does that go away in Wrath?
Stones and oils can’t be used at 80. So it will most likely be “whatever weapon gives you the best stat increase, provided it’s not screwing over a melee user with you taking it.”
This is confirmed to be a bug. By all accounts, weaving should still be a viable mechanic in Wrath, and easier to boot. That means unless there’s a drastic change to mechanics then slowish 2-handers will still be the way to go.
