Are hunters really that bad in raids? Everything I read is very negative towards them. Will I have a hard time getting into a raid?
Define “that bad.” Their damage isn’t mage level, but it’s perfectly fine at every stage of classic and they bring some extremely important non-damage tools to any raid or dungeon group.
no Don’t stress, as long as you don’t use a gun they will invite you. In classic there were so dang loud
But i will be rolling Dwarf Hunter and definitely will main guns their my fav!
40 mans is a lot of mans. Sometimes just being a warm body is enough to secure a spot.
Also, hunters are fine and Tranq shot is a thing
From my memory and what I’ve read back on, Hunters are fine early tier, but don’t scale as well. So hunters will be relative strong(er) early on but fall a little later tiers. Not fall as in you’re barely doing above the tank, but lower than you were during the first couple of tiers of raiding.
Hunters are required for raids as at least 1 boss per raid has an enrage mechanic that can only be dispelled by a Hunter’s tranq shot. But you’ll only see 4-5 per raid typically. Obviously a guild can bring more, but usually 5 tends to be the sweet spot unless there’s some trueshot aura/wolf howl being stacked with rogues/dps warriors. Then you might see a couple more.
Hunters are fine. Most classes are kind of janky with balance, so just play something you think you will enjoy.
No, tranq shot.
You’ll get some spots with tranq shot and the right pet to buff the raid.
Don’t be a Huntard and you’ll get asked back, I.E. turn off growl, don’t shoot anything that the Tank isn’t already attacking UNLESS it goes after the healer.
They’re not bad, they just don’t scale as well as other DPS classes towards endgame content.
They are fine until AQ. They are still needed but will be bottom of meters. In Naxx their damage is terrible. Min/maxing guilds will probably only take a couple hunters for tranq shot and have them spamming wing clip with nightfall in AQ and Naxx because their damage blows.
But if you are in a casual guild it shouldn’t matter
They’re more likely to put a Ret or Enhance in charge of Nightfall, even if a Wingclip Hunter has better uptime, because a Hunter Nightfalling is effectively 0 personal DPS where a Ret or Enhance can at least play somewhat normally.
Hunters are also great at pulling and kiting if used well.
I was thinking that a min/max guild may not take a ret or enh at all. But that would make more sense if they had one
No some of us do known our class and good points and bad points…I am one of those Hunters…heck I even saved raids when both tanks were down and same with tank down in a Dungeon…
It’s hard to say what any particular tryhard Guild Leader might have bouncing around in their noggin at any point in time. I’m mostly in a raid for the atmosphere and the occasional hilarious chaos.
Level up your Skinning and become a master Skinner with the Enchanting buffs for skinning; You Will be asked to be in the Raids, just so you can skin the dead Bosses for the rare mats.
That’s comforting. I have read many posts stating the damage was extremely low and have seen people posting raid comps that didn’t include them.
Turn growl off, don’t use aspect of the cheetah, learn to play well, you’ll get a rep for being a good Hunter and you’ll get invited. Otherwise you’ll be a Huntard and good luck.
It’s 40 people per raid. Almost all guilds will need bodies to fill the raid.
Unless you’re in a hardcore end content guild whose sole focus is rushing raids, you’ll be good.
