Hunters Don't Use Explosions...But Tinkers Would

Create a Tinker class that uses mail armor and guns. Give them Explosive Shot and Thermo-Detonators (WFB) in addition to a flame thrower, temporary turrets, and a cooldown to deploy and pilot a mech suit like a Shredder, G.M.O.D., or Lightforged Warframe.

Explosions have no place in a Hunter’s arsenal. We have poisons, traps, AoE weapon attacks, and powerful beasts at our disposal. These fit the theme of being a Hunter. Explosive devices and munitions have nothing to do with being a Hunter.

Tbh, I kinda agree.

If they took away all the bombs and exploding shots/traps and gave them to tinker, cool, kinda like how they gave metamorphosis from locks to DHs.

I’d rather survival get lacerate like back in Legion and throwing spears or axes/chakrams like we used to have (the axes and chakrams anyway) to keep the ranged/ melee hybrid style, but more focused on melee than ranged for survival please.

There’s is such thing as Dynamite fishing. Likewise, some Hunters use tannerite for wild pigs and squirrels.

And pissed off all the demo locks in the process :joy:

Yeah, I think I saw that in the Crocodile Dundee movie.

Maybe we should have a new hunter ability, Summon Donk! then too.

Maybe, you’re not wrong, but it fits better for DH and better to change it and add a whole new class than not just to keep an ability that probably shouldn’t have been one of theirs in the first place.

Feels the same way with hunters lobbing grenades too imo. I’d more than happy for my hunter to hand them off if they added tinkers. I don’t want to play tinker, but then we can get more thematically fitting throwing weapons instead and actual melee abilities other than Mongoose Bite for Survival maybe.

I don’t see any problem with explosives. It comes mostly from the survivalist, and partially marksmen aspects of being a hunter. However it doesn’t fit with everyone’s idea of hunter, especially the more nature oriented individuals. Really they could just make different themed abilities that do esentually the same thing, and let us choose. There is no reason a node can’t have 4 or 5 options.

I personally would love to see snake trap come back.

I’m not against a new class, but gnome or goblin marks hunter engineer, using only mechanical pets is pretty much your tinker. I wish mechanical pets were more diverse in function. And it would be nice if engineer went back to having 5 tinker slots.

This.

I would be perfectly fine with the state of things, even how Lonewolf got changed and needing to pull pet out to lust (even if that is ridiculously annoying and very outdated) if only I could use the pet I want. As a goblin, I wouldn’t mind having my mechanical wolf out during Bloodlust fights, but as it is, we are still being forced to only use ferocity pets as they are the only subtype of pet that has any sort of impact on the game for pve - where only undead raptors matters for pvp.

This forced « diversity of pets » through the families is not truely variety - it limits the choices of pets hunters uses to those two if they want to bring what little utility they realistically can bring.

Why this isn’t enough for us Tinker Union Members - As a pure DPS class hunter leaves a lot to be desired.

Not only do 98% of spells and abilities refer to nature but the range of themes in which a true tinker class could explore is vast.

Hunter is simply too confining and off theme, not matter how hard you try to tailor the aesthetic of hunter to look like a tinker, it’s still a nature boi.

I think they should definitely make a tinker and take this stuff out of hunter.

Give hunter more magical ranger things to do.

I can’t think of any irl situations where this is true if we replace the word “pets” with “people.”

It’s almost like forced “diversity “ has the opposite effect.

Hmmm

Hmmmmmmm :face_with_monocle:

I was certain we were going to get Tinkers in a surprise 8.3.5 patch. But alas, neither came to pass. BfA would have been the perfect time to introduce them to the game thematically with Mechagon and Mechagnomes.

But with the World Soul Saga over the next 6 years? I don’t see how they could be fit in with any of the story lines.

I agree all the explosive abilities make the class look more like a war soldier than a forest hunter. And explosive shot is clunky and useless. Not sure who thought that ability needed to be taken by every hunter but its disapointing. Doesnt fit with bm hunter at all

Tinkers are a major part of the game and its lore. So it’s pretty wild that the most we get is a couple of bombs thrown into a nature spec.

And anyone saying engineering, no. One bomb every 5 minutes is not a Tinker spec.

Survival Hunter theme is supposed to be like Rambo. A dude who runs around the jungle “Surviving” with traps, poisons, and yes guerilla techniques. It also makes sense he would bond with animals being isolated from other humans. Survival is a melee spec with traps and grenades that go BOOM, if you don’t like it, there are two other specs you can play.

A tinker spec would have way more engineering components to it, not only just bombs.

They really should make a tinker class with ranged weapons, mail armor, bombs and turrets/mechanical pet summons.

I don’t wanna play it personally, but I know many would and it’d be cool to have a second ranged weapon class in the game.
