So now that hunter pets can be any spec, where does that leave warlock demons? I guess silhouettes don’t matter for hunters.
This feels pretty bad after losing our observer as a standard summon in just the last expansion. Especially since Blizzard’s reasoning for removing the observer customization was that its silhouette was too different from the felhunter, and that might cause confusion about what the pet does. Now they go and allow this for hunters… huh?
The worst part about this is that with the removal of the glyph system and the implementation of their new barbershop options for our demons, the chances of this limitation ever being lifted are next to none. Why can’t warlocks just “tame” (bind) demons in the open world like hunters do?
The more I think about this the more it bothers me. I thought I’d moved past my observer grief, but then I see this and it doesn’t make sense.

We had pet spec choice in Legion, we had pet talents panel! We’re getting one of them back. But yeah, Warlocks should get permanent Enslavement for Demons with unique abilities, collect their own stable of pets, I would attempt to grab the Eredar Twins.

They often don’t. There were already plenty of hunter pets that look like one another but are different specs.

Fair call out. It does seem like a double standard. Only one question to it, was either silhouette’s actually causing issues?
I don’t recall seeing much player reports. You know the forum and reddit people will complain about the most minor things but this isn’t something I’ve seen come up.
Warlocks aren’t an any pet spec class. /jk
That’s not even the biggest pet double standard.
Hunters get 109832019830983208 new pets every patch.
Warlocks get 1 once in a blue moon.

Let warlocks and dk’s tame demons/undead and add a pet talent tree for hunter/warlock/death knights
this is my dream as a pet class enjoyer

I would be happy with a glyph to use my maldraxxus constructs in place of my ghoul. They can leave their superpowers in the shadowlands. I would just enjoy their company.

You see, the blue moon is a required component of the secret Warlock spell: “Learn new Demon”.
You don’t want to know what spell I activate on Blood moons.

To be fair, Hunters actually see the pet their going to tame, whereas Warlocks sort of grab from the beyond and hope for the best!
Seriously though, I’d rather have more skins for demons than have to hunt them down. Or, perhaps they could use binding demons as a way to gain skins for the Barber Shop.
Different classes are different.
Warlocks got a whole new customization setup for their demons.
As someone that plays both classes you’re making a mountain out of a mole hill.
Meanwhile they let us turn Darkglare into an Observer, and then spec into Call Observer in PvP
Their logic given is so flimsy, nonexistent even.

I have argued for many years that locks should be able to collect demon skins and use them as pets, all Blizzard needs to do is normalize their damage/ability profiles and slot any collectable demons into one of the categories of pet we have.
Also, there’s another massive double standard between lock and hunter, hunters can jump around like jackrabbits for fun while doing their rotations, but locks are severely punished if we have to move at all, we barely do any meaningful damage in high movement situations.

Blizzard is often very dishonest about their main reasons for doing or not doing things, they might want to do X thing, with the primary reasons being A, but reason A would go over like a lead balloon with the community, so they’ll keep going down the list of possible reasons for doing X until they hit a palatable reason and that reason is now their primary goal according to their public stance.
All of the other reasons A, B, C and D are just happy accidents, even though we can clearly see that it’s a load of malarkey lol

A whole new customization setup doesn’t mean much when we barely get any options to choose.
According to Petopia, Hunters get 2375 total pet skins.
And according to my count, because we have so few pets that we can count them, us Warlocks get 71 Demons, that being 15 Imps, 9 Voidwalkers, 8 Sayaad, 5 Felhunters, 8 Felguards, 6 Infernals, 3 Doomguards, 12 Darkglares and 5 Tyrants.
So basically, Warlocks only get 2.99% of what Hunters get.

It means enough.
Then play a hunter instead of crying on the forums.
This has always been a BS thing about Hunters. The only range class in game that can move and attack and can’t be spell locked. They are effectively ranged rogues.
They used to be counterbalanced by the dead zone but that’s long gone.

It’s called cc the pets. Congrats you can now break 1500.
It leaves me with demons I am 110% content with, and I feel there is no double standard as it does not apply here. I think you are truly upset about a non-issue
