Hello friends i am trying to decide between a hunter or a mage for my alt. mainly gonna be pvping. I haven’t played either class in years. any input is appreciated.

mage is a snooze. hunter is super fun and rewarding with 2 diff ranged playstyles and a melee… it is super frustrating at times because its kit feels so outdated compared to others but when its not frustrating its a blast

it’s a lot easier to get into and get mileage out of
if you aren’t super comfortable/confident on mage you wont have fun

Hunter. You get to have a buddy with you all the time.
i have my friends Harold, and Randall, and Freddy, and Wynona my big brown beaver.
You can also play with a gun or bow, or be a real super chad and harpoon in and out while throwing bombs like a lunatic.
Not to say the others aren’t chads, all 3 specs are fun. BM gets super cool pets and has a chill playstyle, MM gets to collect the many tears of random bg players, and sv gets slept on while absolutely destroying people.

Welp its overwhelmingly hunter so i choose mage
If you want to develop the insanely high skillcap required for mage and get very good at it, you’ll have fun in a year or so, hunter you’ll learn much easier and it’ll be much more rewarding. Mage pretty trash tier right now I feel like. Definitely could use some buffs. Just look at representation on drustvar.
Why is everyone saying hunter, I thought mage was super OP lol. Guess not. Mage is in a sorry state right now, even balance druid is better.
Hunter historically is easier to pick up.
Maybe Fire but Arcane and Frost are good.

Damage profile doesn’t really align with how shuffle plays. Seems decent in 3v3, though.
It does better than arcane. You have 6 instant casts that proc a pyroblast. Fast fireball every 8 sec, that does big DMG. 1 DPS school, another for CC (DPS and sheep are on separate schools).
Arcane is all hard cast, you think hard cast is better for RSS? Rofl
Big DMG from arcane is AB and Missiles, Barrage execute (nerfed into oblivion)

Fire has better survival abilities. Arcane just dies after block, fire has cauterize.
Fire functions better than arcane. Arcane is just a gimmick that can attack from stealth and do big dam.
Fact is mage is bad right now. Fire is not worse. It just does not have and ability like Glacial or Surge.
Arcane is light years ahead of fire.
Let me explain.
You get stunned, you proc infurious legs, you juke a cast, you get precog, you now have a … ton of haste and immunity to ccs and stuns.
On a defensiveless target, i can hit anywhere between 50 to 75% of someones hp in the first global and have 2 more instants to follow it, one being an execute.
Also you can cast surge, poly, ring of frost, inside of mass invis (arcane only) if you didn’t know.
Arcanes burst is so nutty and is only a 78 second cd with shifting power, means you can force the trinket and be guaranteed a kill after 78 seconds, or if your partner is capable of pulling cds the first go, you can often get the kill on the second setup.
This is a gimmick that relies on precog? Rofl.
