Hunter Traps not triggering on Ragnaros

Have any other Hunters found a spot you can drop traps where they will actually trigger? I tried launching from multiple locations, to a ton of different spots (both underneath and around him) and they simply would not trigger. This is a huge DPS loss for something I would consider to be a bug.

The world bosses have this issue, half the mobs in mc have this issue. Doubt it will get fixed since it only affects hunters. Sorry buddy

Oh no you cant do 9k dps with an instant cast AOE trap.

Hunters depend on traps to do dps in SoD, even against single targets. Unfortunatelly that issue exist since forever so I’m not sure they can fix it, it’s a limit of the WoW engine.

I’m talking about a single-target boss. The trap isn’t most of our DPS, it’s the rune it triggers that allows us to double-cast shots and maintain our mana. We literally can’t do our rotation properly without triggering traps.

This is also killing the max weave playstyle. It needs addressing.

our first pull on rag we were on the ledge just to the right of boss with the ledge behind us, traps were working fine. Went for second pull - zero traps worked.

I even tried what hunter discord said “aim at the belly button” but then they traps wouldnt even go because they had nowhere to land essentially. I tried so many places lol, there were probably lulls where I was just trying to find the sweet spot and my trap wasn’t even getting sent. Don’t even get me started on the world bosses. Every big modeled boss hitbox needs to be checked. Good ole azuregos if you dont get it in the sweet spot you dont get any procs. Not to mention after getting sucked in you have to run a mile because you are deadzoned 25 yards out.

could not bump this enough. by far the most annoying thing in phase 4 so far.

I’m seeing hunters on warcraft logs with a dozen+ explosive trap triggers on rag and damage done to rag, so it’s not all during the add phase. There has to be a spot where this works.

It’s a needle in the haystack… shouldn’t be like that.

Huge dps loss…yet you are still top dps on the meters.

Mine trigger fine, just have to be close enough to drop it dead center of his body.

Umm no $hit hes a fire elemental and your confused why fire traps wont work on him… blizz said the fire immunity on elemental trash and bosses was still a thing. Fire mages will have to spam frosrire or bale fire bolt. And fire locks will have to go affliction. I mean really if you think about it its not hard to figure out. In classic stuff has immunitys.

rag in particular never actually moves, so it doesn’t surprise me that traps don’t work on him

Omfg, I hope this is a troll comment. Please tell me someone isn’t this dumb.

In case you’re serious, we aren’t talking about resisting traps (which isn’t even a problem in sod), even if the enemy resists your trap, it still has to activate the trap to resist it.

The problem is the hit-boxes. The traps won’t even freaking go off.

I don’t think I got a single trap to go off!
Very frustrating, that’s a huge dps loss (not just for us but raid as well when we have 3 hunters). Anyway, I kinda prefer to stand back at 41 yrds anyhow to avoid getting knocked back a random direction into the lava. Hunter has been very wonky in sod. I feel like it’s a buggy version of my Wrath hunter. And large bosses, holy crap. You have to hit the “10 or 9 ring” on those. Can’t just launch them into the bosses red hit circle. But then we also end up with like a 15 yrd dead zone. Needs to be fixed but I’m not going to hold my breath. Only thing devs know how to do is nerf things.

Bump, please fix this, even if its just for Rag.

One of our hunters said there is a spot that was posted on the hunter discord. It’s right up against the ring. I can’t really describe it well.
