Rude. And. Wrong. Your idea of having a special stance and using the pet to tank and blah blah blah, and I’m flat out saying it sucks. If you want real tank abilities for hunter then advocate for a new dedicated tank spec instead of destroying a great dps spec.

On this note he did just claim in the comment section of his video that he knew a Survival Hunter in Cataclysm who got 2k rating in arena by playing pure melee.

answer me this. Why is 36 the magic number? Why would 37 be the magic breaking point? What happens if they add a new class? Will 39 be the magic number then and 40 being the mythical breaking point?

It’s true that every spec added is an extra cost but of course they’ve added specs in the past and there’s no set breaking point.
The real argument against a 4th spec is that it would be impossible to have 4 unique and well-balanced DPS specs within the same class. It’s a hell of a lot of extra work just to maintain a spec that appeals to very few people. As crappy as the current Survival situation is there is little incentive for Blizzard to go out of their way to do anything substantive about it, let alone commit to a 4th spec. This is why I think they should just make Survival ranged and iterate it from there, while they should provide a melee Hunter style by having a talented melee stance within BM.

So, while I’m sure we’re already on the same page, 37 specs won’t suddenly break everything. There is no good reason to argue against it IMO.
I mean, you’re not wrong, I just find the argument of “they could never properly maintain 37 specs” to be one of the stupidest arguments made on these forums.

Yes and what undermines this argument is that having 2 ranged and 1 melee spec in one class is a lot more work and difficulty in balancing than just having 3 ranged specs but Blizzard still did that and the same people tend to be supportive of that.

You misquoted me here (I’m assuming you did it purposely for reasons) I said i knew a Survival hunter back in Cata who I hung out with who was CLOSE to getting 2k rating as melee. It was never an impossible feat, like I said and a few others in those comments you just either dont know how to play that play style or you just go off what others say and use that as grounds for an argument. Like I said, excuse me for not taking screenshots of a player I knew 11 years ago for a future forum post random who just wants to be validated.
^ Heck, has pruning and/or increased homogeneity even necessarily been followed by tighter balance in this game?
BM should change? Yeah no that’s probably the only spec that has retained any form of identity over time. Since Survival is melee now, it might as well be a melee tank in a rework.
With Legion, the MM and Surv. specs were changed, twisted to the point that they were both effectively new specs .
