further adjustment to hunter dmg?
Hunter and ret nerfs overall irrelevant
Enh seems to be the only spec meaningfully worse out of all of them in the notes
Oh my. That’s actually crazy.
Was stoked til the second set of changes got edited in
Nobody asked but ;
Enh only ever really seems relevant when it has teeth
Wrath wolves, mop ascendance, legion doomwinds, SL doomwinds//chain harvest, df wolves//converging storm//hot hand, tww primstorm//ascendance
It feels like every time enhance has any edge at all they file it down
It feels like the only spec in the game expected to be a single target sustained damage bot with no swing or lethal damage when specs like ww and dh just do that 10x better with better cds and cc
ATP if they wanna keep it as is (no burst no control) but have it be competitive they need another 40% stormstrike buff, another 40% lightning bolt buff
maybe some buffs to tempest strikes and stormblast instead of stormstrike so it doesn’t have an insane modifier and we also get a small edge into plate
Hopefully they do another balance pass after this weekend. It’s so weird to me how they are ok with letting certain specs remain op/dominant and then quickly nerf others that aren’t even on the radar as far as player complaints go.
We toast for another month.
Wouldn’t this just make it a lot like WW? I’d think advocating for instant cast hex/damage during lasso or other control based adjustments would be better?
Or when it’s disproportionately tanky and can’t die OR giga juices another strong spec
Like in SL outside of s1 for turbo and providing support for warrior or in BFA when it was immortal and a 2nd healer.
I think enhance’s biggest problem is that the class competes with ret for a melee dps utility spec and it’s almost always worse than ret.
Theoretically it used to have a niche vs wizards, but now ret is almost fully ranged and has spellbop and double freedom baseline, so that niche is more or less gone.
It really feels that the people who make suggestions to balance/design aren’t always consistent.
At the start of tww unholy got a 25% nerf to their diseases, which made up like 50% of their damage. That was a 12.5% overall nerf. I know petkick and mvq sat on the top of the ladder the whole time, but overall DK felt mid for the rest of the season.
Similarly, this season boomy got 50% nerfs to both hero tree damage abilities. It’s still fine, but got hammered immediately with a large nerf.
Meanwhile ret paladin or hunters get, like, a 2% nerf to overall damage in very slight ways that don’t significantly reduce their burst or sustain.
Overall, blizzard balance is actually not as bad as it feels, but it does feel terrible when some classes are so dominant and get lovetap nerfs with buffs and other classes just get shot in the head.
When it comes to BM or rets in pvp the devs often play the head in the sand sort of deal, its just to the point it seems that they favor certain specs being overly powerful and see no issues with it.
If enhance was as powerful as ret it would get immediately handed down with a nerf bat.
And maybe a recompensation for rets somewhere else. At least rets are losing both repentance/gaze but it seems like that hardly matters currently.
Then again some class kits/specs are being completely redone and not in a good way. The only that seems to be that’s being done pretty damn good is unholy DK / affliction.
hit like a what now?
This is hard for me to quantify because not even hots could get r1 in SL without cheating
while it was completely possible because Saul did it with both dorito and laros I would really have a hard time calling it relevant
I do agree with bfa s1 healing though
it was relevant enough that Jaime played enh frost mage to 92% dampening in Awc
but then they removed the healing and there were 0 r1 enhances in the world for s2,3, AND 4
Joru got the closest (400points below r1) and his team played with piff ele and got 3400 in like 1 sesh
All of that maybe irrelevant because you’re just trying to point out that it’s healing when overtuned has the ability to make it at least somewhat relevant in a significantly less realistic way than any of the seasons it has meaningful damage
Imo the healing right now seems to be in the healthiest place it’s been since it really became an issue (bfa)
But it’s damage profile is borderline similar to what it was in bfa s2-4
didnt realize teeth meant a bazuka.
Certain specs kits require heavy damage to be relevant Enh more often than not on the underwhelming side because for one reason or another it’s not allowed to be over the line in the same way ret, marksmanship, assa, etc, are allowed to be for years on end
Sliding scale
I’d hardly call legion/SL doomwinds a bazooka like ascendance was
I don’t think df s1 converging storm (crash lightning buffing stormstrike) was a bazooka
I don’t think df hothand was a bazooka
All of those are nerfed significantly harder than any one else’s meaningful damage
when enhance loses those they don’t bounce back the same way something like moonkin does because it doesn’t have half the tools moonkin does outside of the damage
fwiw I don’t think ascendance should be any stronger than it is post nerf
BUT wolves, doomwinds, or something needs to move the damage from the steady below average baseline that it is now permanently
How much did you play converging? I played a degen haste/crit build and would spam crash->SS->CL and cycle through and you’d perma delete specs like demo and uh dk (which were somewhat prevalent in shuffle). You’d legit do 2x the damage of other specs
Hots wintraded 3/4 seasons, though, but I think that’s because he was more ego than gameplay.
Breezy got it on 2 enh and I know james and devistonia got it with at least one other enh though, no?
I think it was less enh and more arms/fury being insane and enh providing support for overtuned warrior.
The same way stunandbung got within 1-200 pts of range as a prot pal.
Yeah, same with boomy where the highest rated boomy in the world s2/s3 was prev and he didn’t even get glad on boomy. It’s when/why he swapped off boomy.
Yeah, I was just trying to illustrate that enh has a super limited role as a support melee and it has to compete with ret that does everything better, so enh only ends up meaninful if it’s overtuned in damage and/or healing.
