I have been away for a little bit. Last i remember our best stat has fluctuated between haste and mastery. Can someone explain why icy veins is now saying versatility is best? Did i miss a big change?
I do not normally blindly follow websites but when versatility goes from worst to best I feel line I’m missing something.
IIRC the azerite essences scale with Versatility so that’s why it has high value. Also, even though it was typically low on the list beforehand it was never too far behind so it only takes a small change to push it up in the ranking.
Always derive your stat priorities from simulations. Use raidbots to make it easy. Secondary stats are very inter-dependent and single gear upgrades can reshuffle your stat priorities. This will make it clear when versatility.
I ran a simulation against your character’s armory and got these weights:

So Mastery is still your best but not by much; a gear upgrade in 1 slot could potentially change this ranking. Note the spread in secondary stats is not that big (<0.4 difference between the top and bottom) so all of them give you a significant DPS upgrade, even the lowest.
Ahh ok. Thanks. Sounds like it also depend on which major you do. If it does direct dmg versatility is good. Although as you say, they are very close.
Basically, the short of it is,
BM, you want Crit / Vers
SV you want Haste / Vers
MM you want Mastery / Haste, multi target, Mastery / Crit

Wow, I had not run a sim lately, nor had a looked at wowhead. I need to do an item restore, as I basically just vendor any vers gear that I get (which is a lot…lol).
i find since your pet is 75% of your damage mastery is a must then haste.
That’s a big negative. Mastery sims last for me and most other bm.
You shouldn’t have been doing this before 8.2, either. All 4 stats have high value in BFA. Just because one is ranked 4th doesn’t mean it’s an “avoid at all costs” stat.
Never rely off gut feeling. Always simulate.
i like to play different then everyone i dont m+ or raid i bg mostly on my hunter and im mastery/crit/haste.
