Hunter stables are no longer viable in a changing game

I know this is likely a constant topic. But whatever.

If we can hold a thousand battle pets, and 400 mounts we can certainly increase the amount of pets hunters can stable, and on top of that the stable should be accessed via interface rather than having to juggle pets determining what I want with me, and ensuring space so i can tame something neat i come across.

It feels restrictive, constantly.

Many hunters are collectors, having to toss away a trophy because your case can only hold 6 tabs worth is pretty bad. I’ve tossed away nostalgic pets because my stable is crammed with spirit beasts and unique and hard to find skins. I’m now at the point of tossing away rare pets for newer rare pets. This shouldn’t be a thing.

The utility of an interface accessible stable is undeniable and it feels there’s no reason this shouldn’t be implemented.

The title sounds kinda misleading.

We all agree that we need more stable slots or a rework of the system that allows us to just have a lot more pets stored. But there is not a single blue reply in this subforum… so unfortunately you’re just preaching to the choir.

It should be in the “collections” as a hunter tab. There, fixed. If other classes gripe, they can put other things there for each class, like a warlock’s fel fire colors(I don’t know if that is still a thing), or other graphical/color customizations that aren’t gear. They could even organize it by family and which skin(s) you have previously tamed, do drop-downs.

i really dont see why people want so many slots… i have been a hunter for 15 years… i still have LOTS of spots lets and i have almost every spirit beast

Because people can collect more than just Spirit Beasts. Every pet I have acquired while leveling my hunter is in the stables. Also, this change in the pet spec abilities caused me to get new pets so all the old ones went to the stables.

We all do it different.
Someone mentioned nostalgia. I have many pets that I will never get rid of for nostalgia reasons. Still have my first tame - a green tarantula from Stonetalon, or I used to run with this pet or that pet and it reminds me of good times from years past, etc.
And sometimes I’m just in the mood for a fun new flavor of pet and wanna grab a guy I haven’t used in years.

Heck, I even have several colors variations of types of pets just to match some favorite xmogs I have.

And with the addition of new expacs and zones, there are More great beasts to choose from! I actually abandoned a couple guys this week. I didn’t have any emotional connection and they weren’t remarkable, but it still felt dirty to leave them (but then again I get really into the hunter char flavor). But that aside, I still had to hem and haw on who I was willing to drop to make room for some great BfA guys.

And as for having some type of easy access, that’d be nice. Maybe spoiled, again, but today I had tamed some and happened upon someone I wanted. But I was in Zuldazar, couldn’t remember which of the 1 flight paths had a stable master at it…I know it’s not a real hassle, but maybe we could have more than 5 slots available on us at a time? Esp if you want to quest, pve and pvp all without returning to a city.

When they upped our stable capacity a few years ago, it was amazing. Maybe we’re spoiled. But many of us appreciate the opportunity to collect great frands.
Thinking on all this makes me want to go run with some I haven’t used in a while. Off I go!

there was a time when you could only have 1 pet with you and to change that you had to go to the stable master. I could understand the argument if you still had to level pets… but outside of rare spawns you can simply go get one at any time in less than 10 minutes. I still have Brokentooth in my stable along with King B and one of the armored pigs from RFC… i still do not feel the need to fill my stable slots with pets i will NEVER use.

Some are simplistic and only keep what they need while others are collectors and feel the need to have ever skin even if its all the same model. A simplistic person can not understand the feeling a collector has after finishing a set, that air of ease they have once they know they can stop or move on to the next collection. I have myself six other hunters that way I could collect but have enough room spaced out for pets, and I have begun to run out of stables. I could just make a new hunter but that would require time to level and just ignoring them after I had tamed what I wanted. The best solution is giving hunters a tab like battle pets, or mounts, which can only be accedes through a stable-master.

That’s fine. But I will refer back to my first line, we all do it different.
You wont benefit from more slots, so that really doesn’t matter, esp since it wont hinder or change your game experience in any way. It doesn’t apply to you, so that’s not really the point.

But some of us will enjoy having more slots - and that’s who they’re there for.

Man, this is why BfA has made me ever more sold on my choice of engineering for my hunter, because they finally got a mobile pet stable item. See a new dude I want to tame, but my local pet slots are full, just drop the item and swap one out.

That said, I’m 98% sure that, for obvious reasons, Warbeast Kraal has a stable master. I also know there’s one halfway down the west-side steps heading from the primary Seal flightpoint down to the salvage machine.

Still, overall, I agree. There’s very little rational reason to retain the stable at only the existing slots. There are hundreds of pet skins in the game, and Blizzard has already, over the last decade and a half, removed the vast majority of existing collection hurdles. Void storage, collections system for pets and mounts and now transmog skins and enchants, quest items largely not going into your actual bags anymore, a separate (and massive) resource section in the bank, massively increased bag sizes, etc.

All of that junk you used to have to keep packed around your banks or bags is now collected in their own separate largely-unlimited-storage areas. No more keeping billions of old tier pieces around for xmog (or before that, equipping in your capital city to look cool while waiting for something to do), no more mounts and pets and reagents and ammo and all of that junk cluttering up your bags, no more resources consuming a third to half of your bank space.

So why are we stuck with the same stable limit we’ve had forever, despite there being at least an order of magnitude more pet models in the game than there were at release?

There is an engineered stable you can buy and drop. But the issue of slots isn’t taken care of. I deleted pets that didn’t have extra abilities.
