Hunter Sniper Scopes That Zoom In On Target

Yeah Hunters can get rifle/bow scopes that add stats. But It would be a real addition to the game if Hunters actually could get Weapons Scopes that actually let the Hunter look through the scope and zoom-in on the target. Like in other games. It would be fantastic and enhance the Hunter experience.

Only for your perfectly lined up shot to miss anyway because the target has 22.35% dodge and the game rolled against you.

How? By slapping on blinders to look through a scope mid-battle? Or is that an opening shot enhancement?
Even when I close one eye I still can’t see the enhancement. :frowning:

What if they do, but you’re in third person so you can’t tell?!

Best I can do otherwise is the spell that let’s you see into the distance and the helm from mechagon.

Scores of games have been able to let snipers use scopes with zoom. All that happens is you go from third person to zoomed-in scope mode. This mechanic is not new to gaming.

The mechanics of the shot would be calculated as normal. The only change is that your character can see the target closer up. Of course this would be only available on designated sniper rifles with longer range than usual.

as long as the hunter is always in melee range though

You can make a scope that you can zoom in with from like classic engineering if you want

or a scope that pops up Clippy when you try to zoom:

Food for thought.

Please tell me more.

It would be to Warcraft in the middle of a boss fight. But then again, Hunters dying to bad because they were focused on the kill shot isn’t new, so I can see that working for you. :slightly_smiling_face:

I’m Suprised you didn’t mention the reward quest for doing 3 WQ in undermine.

This functionality is already developed for thr most recent patch in fairly good detail. The only thing missing is that your character cannot move while doing the quest, and some fps would include environment/character movement in terms of affecting the ability to be accurate whole scoped in.

See:

I honestly love first person in wow, it’s just not feasible for most activities: though there are a few addons that can enhance it.

You are misunderstanding the process here. Of course nothing would change as far as how Hunters shoot their weapons now. And of course Hunters would still be able to shoot enemies point-blank in third person perspective. The zoom-in thru-scope with reticle thing would be an option specially for solo Hunters just for the experience of being a sniper. This would be more of a role playing thing. It would be totally optional.

I always loved the idea of an aimed hunter ability, just one. Maybe not through a scope, but a windup type of aimed shot that you can possibly miss. If you play League I’m thinking of the Varus arrow you have to aim.

I’m thinking more like Sniper Elite.

No thanks. I play on max distance for a reason.

The ability to zoom in is for first person shooters and that’s where it should stay.

Aren’t there world quests or sometimes even normal quests with this “immersion”?

I don’t think anyone would (probably including you as well) want to have their Hunter in a raid or M+ run find a hiding spot far behind others, sit or lay down and take their time to have that ONE mob/boss perfectly focused using that scope and then finally take that shot to do… 1% HP damage and then rush towards the group to join in the fight, like it happens in movies or tv shows, right?

Many games has third person camera as well as first person camera for shooting and scopes for zooming in close at a farther range. Think Mass Effect, Sniper Elite, Etc. This is a common type of game-play.

I see this more of an open-world thing. Used for soloing quests situations. Not M+.

But I will add; that the other games I have played that allow for this mechanic involves simply advancing, getting behind cover, scoping the target, fire, move again, etc. Usually sniper rifles fire a much more powerful round than normal rifles.

… and pointless in a tab-target game.

Anyway, Hunters already have Eagle Eye, which pretty much does what you ask.

I’d take this.

Only if it has the ability to increase loot drop to 100% for animal parts quests and meat drops for cooking/sale. otherwise tab fire is fine. why work for the headshot if still have 10% roll on meat drops lol.

Bear killed to all head shots…100% meat or part drop. No way you shot the meaty part then.

Why this won’t happen. killing at least 20 things to get 10 animal parts is wow’s thing. Retail is at least nice about that. old wows you can be looking at an hour+ for this crap.

Eagle Eye is good for scouting the area ahead, I would compare it to using binoculars. Using a sniper rifle scope is line of sight zoomed in to see a target closer up for a one-shot kill.
