Here is a video discussing the new possible runes in phase 2 of SoD for Hunters! Which ones do you guys like from this and which ones would you guys like that aren’t mentioned?
head rune - dodge this - removed deadzone
belt rune - mongooser - when you use mongoose, you gain 25agi for 30 seconds and you instantly drop a viper trap (yes even in combat)
boots rune - spirit of the wolf - you are immuned to daze and run 75% faster
Hunter first of all needs a shake up of the current rune slots with some adjustments to how certain talents play given that quite a few are just dead. Lion needs to be a baseline thing as it makes all other runes irrelevant in whatever category it’s in. Lone wolf needs to go to pants and just scrap sniper training. KC needs to be changed to the TBC and beyond version to be an actual button push for BM.
As far as future runes:
Beast Mastery
- Barbed Shot - replaces arcane shot and I think this would add some flavor to the BM rotation
- Beast Within - Nice improvement on Bestial Wrath that makes it a better power CD
- Would like to see something newly designed that gives each pet a unique attack button that fits into the rotation. For example something like cat pets would get a button press that stuns the target and claws them 3 times in quick succession. Wind serpents get a chain lightning breath for aoe packs, Gorillas get a thundering stomp that aoe pulse stuns for 3 seconds while dealing aoe damage. Etc…
Marksman
- Revert explosive shot to it’s previous iteration with a better scaling
- Lock and Load - with increased amounts of instants and mobility, casting a 3 second aimed shot is going to be much more difficult. This would allow autos a chance to let the next aimed shot be instant cast and give a much needed proc to the class to break up the boring rotation.
- Kill Shot - self explanatory, the class could use an execute.
- Rain of Arrows - turn volley into a non channeled ability so that you can pop it on a pack and cast other abilities while it does AoE damage.
- Infused Arcane Shot - There was a drop from Razorgore that almost no one used because it was a crap trinket. If that was changed into an aoe skill option instead of explosive shot it could be good. The trinket turned arcane shot into a fired arcane explosion for one arcane shot. If this was turned into a skill that made arcane shot into an aoe ability on a 6 second cool down, it could add some variety.
Survival
- Mongoose Bite - Needs to be turned into the Cata version
- Raptor Strike - needs to be an instant button push
- Harpoon - Melee hunter needs a gap closer.
All specs
Think this should be a tier in itself and the hunter picks one
- Counter Shot - 24 second CD interrupt like counterspell with a 3 sec lock out
- Disengage - Should be turned into the wrath version
- Camouflauge - Stealth for pet and hunter for 1 min until attacking.
- Combat traps - Traps can be used in combat
Ultimately, hunter needs a more interactive rotation. Something with a proc that creates a dynamic instead of a static rotation.
