I have had my current pet for 20 levels or so but since I was in my mid-30s I have only been receiving tp when I level and am unable to even have enough points to get lower ranks of stamina, is this a bug or a feature?
What is the loyalty level of the pet? Pet TP is tied to loyalty and level. The pet only gets TP when it levels.
Take a look at wowhead’s Classic Hunter Pet Calculator (I cannot post links) to determine what you should have.
Also FYI, there is an interface bug of sorts. The cost to train an ability in the UI is based on the price of having no levels in that ability. However, the price paid is actually the difference between the listed value and the value of the level you know.
Quick Made-Up example:
Lv1: 25 TP
Lv2: 50 TP
Lv3: 75 TP
Lv4: 100 TP
Your pet knows Lv3, having spent 75 TP to learn it. You have 40 free TP If you select Lv4 in the Training interface it will say that you do not have enough TP in actually if you click the button to train the ability you will see that the actual price 100-75= 25 TP and you have 15 TP left.
