Hey all just getting back into classic and decided to remake the hunter i originally played on way back when. Id just like to ask is there a prefered profession like lw to make gear or is engineering the way to go if i decide to pvp?
Engineering for battle res.

Definitely engineering. Great for pvp and good for pve since you can FD and use jumper cables plus craft the best ammo/arrows as an engi.

I already picked First Aid, should I drop that profession?
No first aid is a must.
It’s also a secondary profession so you can have first aid cooking and fishing while also having two primary professions like engineering and mining.

Mining pairs best with Engineering, since most Engineering crafts require ore/bars (and in particular, Thorium Shells). However, Herbalism also works because 225+ herbs tend to sell better than 225+ ores/bars because of raiding.
