With Dragonflight, we are getting a new Talent System and a revamped Profession System, with trees of it’s own. Hunter Pets could use a revamp as well. Right now, it is very basic with the “families” and their basic buffs. Why not expand on this with family trees the Hunter can put points into, just like you will be doing with the Professions? There is a ton of potential here, and it wouldn’t be that difficult to do. Oh, and please unlock name restrictions that block us from using numbers and spaces in the Pet’s names! Thanks
I think the reason it’s like that is so everyone’s not using the same hunter pet like it used to be
A few things.
The amount of work it’d take to overahaul the pet system, would be pretty insane.
Also, hunters already get THE most attention out of any class. It isn’t even close. Every expansion theyhave new pets lined up to be tamed or ignored, as well as all the content that every other class gets. No class gets this level of attention.
Able to tame dragons.
Its like that now. Hunters use clefhoofs and spirit beasts for solo stuff and lust pets in group stuff.
Just make it that you can set what your pet dose, like how we pick our spec. So you can choose if it lusts, tanks, heals etc
Don’t hold your breath, they’ve simplified hunter pets to level of basic stupidity.
I’m a bit bored of ferocity being the absolute definitive option for basically everything.
While yes, they do add more pets, my point is more on the side of customization of your pet versus adding more of them. I don’t think it would be that hard to create a few trees for the families. Just use the new Talent System as a base and just add in abilities.
Would be nice if they reverted it to swappable pet specs again, I like the new undead hounds but there’s not leech/HoTs on them so they’re pretty useless in raids/open world combat…
Also update some of the old models while we’re at it so they keep their unique looks.
Personally, I’d like to see something that makes it so no pet can be torn apart like cheap wrapping paper . . . I swear one of my hunter’s pterradaxes used to be able to hold its own to some degree but ever since shadowlands started I can barely use it for ANY solo content.
Barring that, same stuff as usual, seeing what beasts can be tamed, continuing to hope for a more accurate smilodon mob and a dilophosaurus with a proper head sculpt, no frill, and no toxic head cold phlegm.
Would it though? From the sound of it, they’re kinda asking to go back to something like how hunter pets used to be. Didn’t they already have talent trees and a bit more ‘depth’ at one point? I think they’ve actually been dumbed down over the years.
My mechagnome would love to use mechanical pets, but they are all stuck in a specific family so they are close to useless.
The just need to bring back the ability to choose spec type for the pets so that we can use the pets we want without having to choose them based on spec.
On this note, they should bring back the ability to swap what “spec” your pet is, cunning, tenacity or ferocity. As it stands now with the pets being unable to do that, I see people using the same pets as opposed to more variety. When they had the swappable specs, I saw more variety in pets.
I just want them to pull lust off the pets and make it a HUNTER ability.
There are 59ish different pet families, so I think family specific trees are out, but spec-focused trees are likely plausible. With the size of stables, having pet-specific trees to fill out sounds cumbersome.
Personally. I’d lean towards keeping the complexity of talent trees in one place rather than bleeding it into the pets.
Can’t tame Dragons they are Sentient beings…
Let us choose our pet families again.
A pet talent tree would be kind of fun.
You could stack survival to have a pet tank or stack damage for group play or maybe some variation like our old brez and hero. Speed could be nice in content with adds all-the-way across the room (hello pantheon).
It this case, we don’t have to care about how hard it would be to program, it is for the next expansion! Everyone can use their favorite pet but no one knows what that guy can do; I like it.
well considering we pay to play.
it would be nice if they… did something more.
having nothing new for years makes this look like a pile of fail.
