Hunter Pets Attack problem

  • Whether you’re playing WoW Classic Era or Wrath of the Lich King Classic.
WoW Classic Era specifically HC though I do believe I experienced this on normal classic era
  • Any detailed steps you believe should be taken to reproduce the issue.
This can be reproduced 90% of the time it is tried.
  • The character name and realm on which you encountered the issue, if it differs from your posting character.
This happens on Thalandra on Defias Pillager but I do believe it has happened on Ashkandi as well. I honestly don’t remember the character named on Ashkandi.

When I’m about to attack and send my pet before I attack, things tend to go normal most of the time though some stuttering can be seen.

There are many times a players wants to pull a creature away from where it is without sending in the pet that might aggroing EVERYTHING so the hunter will attack first to pull the creature and then send the pet in to attack. This is where the problem comes in. The pet will run forward (most of the time, sometimes not even run forward) about ten feet and stop to wait for the creature to come to it. Obviously this is within the dead zone of the hunter and screws up the pull making the hunter have to reposition and sometimes this is unwise in certain conditions.

I expect the stuttering pet and ‘scared’ pet (not moving far from the owner and waiting for the creature to come to it) on private servers and have seen this on private servers. Hell, most of the time private servers can’t get the pet AI right at all but I digress.

This is a guess but it seems the pet AI is having a pathing problem trying to run to a creature that is moving toward the hunter or something. But there’s less of a problem if the pet is sent to attack before the hunter attacks. I don’t know but a fix for this would be a tremendous improvement.

Thanks.
