as per every expansion i am making a wishlist for hunter pets, basic things I would love to see happen. Like many if not most hunters pets made the class for me, if not the game and I just want to see them have personality again.
I don’t particularly love the pet classes, tenacity, ferocity, and cunning. It is all unnecessary. Going back to a classic type system would make a lot more sense, but personally I would like to see a hybrid system. Static effects would be under a talent tree, this is where you would set your pet up as a tank, or utility, or dps, maybe a few specific abilities like heroism and other group/raid utility. Then use a classic style loot buy system for non basic attacks. Give a big focus spend attack that lets my pets do something interesting. I miss the days when different pets had abilities, scoprid sting did poison damage, wind serpents had lightning, dragon hawks had fire breath. Allow those abilities again, bring in more abilities of a similar nature, let us choose to teach our pets these abilities. Hunter pet trainers could have most of the abilities to teach hunters, we could also pick up skill manuals to get new expansion abilities. Even give the option instead of a special attack like lightning breath, give the hunter pet elemental base damage. There used to be rare hunter pets that did shadow damage instead of physical damage, with all the pets with elemental skins, undead skins, mechanical skins, it could even make sense.
bring back hunter pet flavor. tired of salt n pepper, give me old bay.

Almost anything would be better than the system they are currently using. The only time tenacity or cunning pets ever see the outside of my stable is when they are the second pet to my ferocity one.

Just make them all ferocity and leave it.
I hate having 1/3 of all pets to choose from if I want my pet to actually do any frikkin thing worth having.

Exactly. Ferocity main with something on the side.
give back pet specs or just get rid of tenacity and cunning entirely.

Here is my wishlist:
.
[1] You get one [1] pet out at a time (period) The same for warlocks and any other class.
.
The game is a clusterjam with spell effects, people stacked in melee, ect and people have brought this up consistently for years. So Blizzards solution to clarifying fights so that we can see whats going on? make hunters multiply the space they consume and they spell effects they generate by 300%. They make demonology warlocks create 800% more visual clutter. And this is multiplied by every single other hunter or warlock in your party or raid.
.
It isnt just those 2 classes. My enhance shaman has a permanent wolf in addition to the character model and an additional 2 more wolves with a 60% uptime. The elemental shaman has 1-2 elementals up in addition to the character model.
.
TLDR:> Everybody get no more than 1 pet out at a time.
I agree! Give the pets some character, both utility and cosmetic.
MoP pet design was good, WoD pet design was good, even Legion pet design was good.
Blizzard, stop trying to reinvent the wheel, you’re giving us a square when we already had a circle, several of them.
