Ok I have a hunter level 33. I have used a boar the entire time and now I have a stranglethore tiger.
How do I get him to learn claw or bite? Do I have to go tame a pet that has that ability and learn it from them and teach it to my tiger?
Also at level 33 he has no skill points to spend into abilities. Are you at a disadvantage with taming a higher level pet because they have no training points into pet skills when you tame them?
Your pet training points will increase once your pet loyalty level goes up .
yes if you haven’t learned claw or bite you need to tame appropriate pets that know that ability and use the move on them until you learn it in your pet training book . and then you can abandon the pet and teach it to your pet.

You can learn any rank of the pet ability. You don’t have to learn rank 1 before rank 2 etc. As long as you can tame them of course.
For leveling usually bite but which ever one is the higher rank. Having both learned does use up a bit of your pets focus.
I would recommend the website Petopia, it is one of the best resources for hunter pets giving you skills and what animals have them and where to find them.
Pets have both level and a loyalty level. If the pet you tame is close to your level getting it’s loyalty level up takes a minimum of 90 minutes. Usually not much more. If it’s way below your level it’s takes a long time to level it up. It’s loyalty level will go up long before it levels up to your level.
If you’re struggling to deal with aggro, Bite might be better, as it ensures your pet will generate as much threat as possible with Growl.
