Hunter pet problem

Questing in Un’goro crater and wanting to tame some of the named dinosaurs. I use the beast lore and it tells me that it is tameable so I dismiss my current pet and start taming the beast and the message comes up that beast is not tameable. Please explain or fix.

you need to be a beast master hunter and have the exotic pets ability unlocked (not sure what lvl they moved that to) if its still not working with those two things then i’m not sure whats wrong.

Beast Master “Tame Exotic Beast” only applies to Devilsaurs in this case, and at level 69 you’d already have it (and the superior level necessary to tame anything out there, which caps at level 60).

How many pets do you have active? Before level 80, you can only have four active pets. A 5th pet would be untameable because there’s no “Call Pet n” slot available. Dismissing a pet doesn’t change that; all dismissed pets count. If you’re at callable limit, you’d have to abandon or stable one to tame one new one.

This is most likely not related to a pop up saying “that beast is not tamable,” so its very possibly a bug. If you’ve already submitted an in-game bug report, you can always open a ticket for a GM to contact you.

Its just possible this is just an oddity that was not caught in Q&A…or no one submitted a bug report on it before. The reason I mention this is because I also have seen this pop up but I had only 3 pets in my slots with one open available. Its also possible the tool tip information is wrong when you checked to see if a particular beast was tamable.

Just really odd things have happened over the years with all the changes Bliz has made to the game so anything at this point could just be something overlooked.

There’s at least one Devilsaur who frequently bugs out and is stuck in place by a tree. I’ve seen it there a few times.
When I once tried to tame it, I got that message and an evade message when I tried to pull him.
I was able to tame it by getting into melee range when he would attack me.
