Now I know that for raids and endgame stuff a wolf with furious howl is best, but I’m only 32 lol.
So my question is for my cats, claw, bite, or both?
I can’t seem to find a solid answer anywhere as people are pretty split on it. It seems like claw is good upfront, but loses luster once focus is dumped, but I’m not sure.
I watched a video about hunter pets where the guy had done some dps tests. I forget the creator’s name atm, but his findings showed claw was initially higher but bite overcame it as fights went on. Your pet will automatically use bite or claw as focus is available.
Personally, I would go with bite and not waste training points on both abilities.
Bite alone overcame it, or when both were active it overcame just claw?
In isolation, bite overtakes claw.
Your pet will dump focus as soon as a usable ability can, so it will default claw use over bite.
Using both is a waste of training points while leveling, especially when you need those points for dash, stam, armor, resistances, (maybe prowl since you are a nelf), etc. Your cat is your tank while leveling. Prioritize abilities that help it tank. It only needs one dump attack, and bite is better overall for dps.
Claw is nice to help with pushback tho, really depends if you are JUST dps focused or thinking about pvp too.
Yeah, once I get either broken tooth or a swamp jaguar I will do claw for pvp pushback, But right now I’m just asking about pve for leveling
That’s a fair point, but with a cat he has access to the fastest pet attack speeds anyway.
I’m using a boar and shredding casters my level as it is. Priests take longer, but cant do much to stop me pre-shadow form.
Yeah I shred clothies atm, but they don’t have as many tools to work with now either lol. But either way ty guys for the response!
ive gone for claw over bite due to kill time. i have a scorpion and use sting which stacks 5 times on elites but when fighting normal mobs i use claw because it takes short time to kill. if i’m lucky i can get maybe 2 bites out in a fight but with claw i just wait till mob is at half health and dump claw on them and they melt.
This. Pvp the fast attacks and claws are annoying for casters. For leveling/questing I usually leave bite and growl on auto and macro claw to my shots. Works well for me and focus isnt an issue, nor agro unless I get 2 aimed crits.
