I’ve trained many pets many skills but my cat will not learn claw rank 6, my pet is level 40… I tamed a scorpid hunter in tanaris to learn it. The skill appears in my beast training and I have enough points, but when I go to click train nothing happens.
I even tried taming claw rank 5 pet and that wouldn’t work either. The skills appear in the training but will not train.
Does your pet have 4 abilities already that is not including claw? If so it can’t learn more than 5. If you already know claw, then it should work and if it doesn’t then that is a bug.
yikes it does know 4 if growl counts… too bad cause its brokentooth and I taught it bite lol
Learned this the hard way, but there IS a solution.
Take your pet to your hunter pet trainer (not your trainer, a pet trainer) and with it out ask them to reset their skills. You can then learn the 4 active skills you want them to have.
Kinda sucks that it costs more each time you have them do it and you only have 2 stable slots in vanilla (so 3 total pets), so don’t plan on swapping Dash out for Cower all the time for example if you use the same pet for PVP/PVE solo and raids all the time and need to swap.

You can only train your pets to have four (4) active abilities. Visit your pet trainer and retrain. Chances are your pet knows some move you don’t use, e.g., “cower.”
