Hunter Pet abilities won't cast

I’ve noticed that my pets will not cast certain abilities whether on auto cast or manually. My ravager will not cast gore and my cat will not cast claw. When I try to manually cast the abilities I get an error message “that ability is not ready yet”. This is happening even even I’ve removed and shut off all other abilities. I’ve also made sure the pet had full focus when testing this issue.

What’s odd is it’s only certain abilities. My cat will cast growl, dash, and bite. The ravager will cast growl and bite. This is happening even when I remove all other abilities.

I’ve tried removing all addons and resetting the cache, wtf and interface folders per the response on my ticket to no avail. Anyone else had this issue?

This is new, I main hunter and have never encountered this bug, I don’t think it’s any addon issue, it might just be the pet itself being bugged, maybe try a different pet and see if it persists on that pet, best thing I can really suggest, sorry…

That’s pretty weird. I can definitely cast gore on my ravager. Maybe you somehow have the wrong rank on your bar.

Maybe try to untrain your pet (at reset talents npc for pets) and reapply Beast Training.

This sounds like something my son had. He abandoned a croc pet. Then grabbed a bear pet out of the stables. The pet he got out of the stables was the croc. Only it had bear abilities.

When he tried to use the pet, it would not work, unless he used them manually.

He says he stuck the bear back into the stables. Tamed a new pet. Then swapped the pets. Then the bear started working correctly.

Huh… Wonder if this is why I could not buff that rogue the other day in Arena skirms?

I was trying to put dampen on him but no matter what I did, i could not put it up… Cast it, but no buff for him…

Have you also tried to test with ONLY those skills active for auto? Could be a focus thing?

I have not run into that issue on my hunter yet.

Thanks for all the replies. I did try training a new ravager last night and had the same issue even though gore was the only ability it had. I’ll have to try again and see if swapping a new one out in the stable will help. I didn’t get a chance to try retraining it to see if that helps, but I have retrained my cat while leveling and that has not fixed the issue with claw.

I’m thinking the only other option left that I can think of is to remove WOW completely and reinstall it.

No, you get gore ranks 1-8 as soon as you get rank 8. You would have to really try to mess up getting the wrong gore rank on your bars with specific macros. Just making sure because this problem is a mystery.

Hmm, you are probably right. I guess I’ve never tamed a level 61 Ravager and then gone back to tame a level 16 Ravager and tried to teach it gore. It seems awfully inconvenient though.

I have like 3, 4, 6, 8, 9 of Bite, and 8 and 9 for Gore and Claw.

This sounds like an addon issue 100%.
When you disabled addons did you actually attempt to play with the default UI?

If so with all addons disabled, try removing and replacing the skills on the pet bar.
