That’s a tough call since “fun to play” includes a lot of stuff. For PvE I’d lean heavily towards Warlock, as you basically get to maintain a Curse and either spam Shadowbolt or Seed of Corruption and do rather insane damage. Hunters lack a strong AoE in TBC and managing the pet can be less rewarding and more frustrating than anything, especially with all the cleave/aura/AoE effects that can get them killed.
For PvP, Warlocks are significantly better than Hunters. You can 2v2 pretty well as a Hunter but you’re essentially just doing long slog drain strategies to eventually wear your opponent down. On the other hand, Warlocks work fantastically well in 2’s, 3’s, and 5’s. PvPing in BGs is fine for both since it isn’t nearly as serious and both can absolutely wreck people from afar so that’s just fine. wPvP is probably a bit better for the Warlock over the Hunter, but both have their tricks to screw with people and avoid being screwed with.
Warlocks really are just so simple and effective in TBC. Gearing is straightforward, rotation is brain-dead easy, and you have opportunities to shine in PvE and PvP with the variety of tools at your disposal. Oh and you get to Tank as well as a Warlock, which is super cool and makes you a must-have addition for T5/T6 content.
So yeah… go Warlock.
Both Lock and hunter along with other classes do really well. This is the MAGIC essence of TBC it lets every class / spec shine bright but with variances that still make them unique.
With that being said i will just say from experience. Managing hunter ammo and pet feeding is easier than soul shards. But both classes hella FUN!

Warlocks are sacrifices its pet and spam Shadow bolt.
In the beginning before you’re really geared you might throw up dots if they do more damage than a single shadowbolt but later on when you’re geared you just legit sac pet and spam bolts.
Sure you can be those other specs but they all do less dps.
Neither. Play something else. We are gonna have too many warriors/rogues fotm chasers rerolling lock/hunter
Shadowbolt spam is boring though. Affliction is more fun!
