Hunter or Mage?

I’m having trouble picking a main, what do you guys think is more fun between Hunter and mage and why? Thanks!

mage, because it’s blizzards favorite and will always have at least one spec doing well

Should change that to 2 spec doing very well and frost is not one of them.

Hunter has an easier time soloing, generally, due to pets.

Mages have more utility in and out of combat.

Mages have more things with spell pushback mattering and are less mobile in fights.

Hunters are generally considered to be in a worse position currently i believe, in terms of balancing.

Frost is putting out better numbers than Fire and Arcane…but you do you.

You can do more things on Hunter solo than you can Mage. Hunter rotations aren’t as bloated and complicated as any of the Mage specs, especially Arcane.

If you want an easier time in all content with less stress, go Hunter.

If you want a “challenge” and have to rely on groups to see your potential, as well as a rotation that will turn your fingers into a tied knot, go Mage.

Then this must be from this expansion because before it was not . I have lvl my mage yet so things may have changed

Fun is subjective.

I’m a mage main, but hunter has plenty of small good things:

  • Many pet skins, if you’re into that.
  • Much better to solo things with, as long as there is no constant AoE pulse going on.
  • A melee option on “survival”.
  • A braindead option with BM with its full combat mobility.
  • Much easier to do well in PvP.

Mages have food, ports, and more of an AoE focus on gameplay in comparison to hunters.

I should have mentioned that I have zero interest in survival. I prefer ranged dps which is why I’m considering mage or hunter and possibly druid for my healing capable alt
